FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) – Two people from Tennessee who were visiting Alaska were reported missing last week after not checking out of their vacation rental or making their return flight home.

According to the Fairbanks Police Department, Jonas Bare, 50, and Cynthia Hovsepian, 37, were reported missing on Saturday to police, who called on the Alaska State Troopers and Alaska Wildlife Troopers to help investigate the case.

Authorities said police found the couple’s luggage still in their vacation rental in Fairbanks.

Troopers located their rental Jeep Compass Saturday evening at Chena Hot Springs Resort, a popular destination about 60 miles outside of Fairbanks.

Troopers began searching the area with helicopters, small unmanned aircraft systems and ATVs. Chena Hot Springs Resort, Wilderness Search and Rescue and PAWS Search and Rescue Dogs are assisting with the search.

If they got lost out in the woods they may have a chance being that it’s Summer.

Authorities will be checking their rental GPS and itinerary so maybe they get lucky and find them provided that they aren’t already deceased.

Chena Hot Springs is no metropolis but there are plenty of people around. Somebody should have seen them.

My guess is an Alaskan brown bear got both of them. It blows my mind how people think they can go to the backcountry, not carry a gun, and be alright. Bear spray is a stupid concept made up by leftists who are terrified of guns. Always carry a .357 whenever you go to the backcountry

Last time I was up there, two baws stopped and got out to look at a bear on the side of the road. They got too close, the bear got chippy and they shot him. To their surprise they caught a pretty heavy charge for killing a bear without a license and out of season.

If either grew up in the 'country' they might have a chance.

Think that might even be a bit light for my comfort. The locals I know up there carry bigger.

Judging from the traction this is getting on social media, this could be the next Gabby Pettito case. I just searched Cynthia's name and all of these online sleuth groups and posts popped up. People are referencing her past drug addiction and You Tube videos and her sister is saying Jonas is a great guy while others are already saying he probably killed her. WTF.
