Can I wear a life jacket? If so, I could handle the swimming. I would just float when I got tired.

There are people here who have done it in less than 15 hours… which isn’t close to an elite level.

With a car, e-bike and boat, probably. Otherwise, fuuuuuuuck no.

Over 72 hours, not over the 17 hours for iron man.

The 26 mile portion is the least problematic. Average walk speed with my wife is ~19 min/mile. Expect to be slower with distance, so, would be about 10-11 hours if walked entirely.

Could break up the bike ride into a multi-day event with breaks. Much more doable.

I suck at swimming and that would be brutal. This would be the reason I would probably fail.

If given 3 days, if you are moderately fit, I don’t think it would be as impossible as some of you think.

This is over 72 hours.

A wetsuit is buoyant and a must have for most participants.

What are the parameters of an Ironman? I legit have no idea how to even guess if I could even attempt it or not over three days.

I've ridden 100 miles in 3 hours and 51 minutes so the bike piece is cake.

But I couldnt run 3 miles with these knees right now and forget the swim part. That sounds horrible.

Do you not know that you can float without a life jacket? If you're tired, just flip over and slow backstroke while floating for a while.

At 74, the best I can do is walk 2 miles while actually jogging/running 100 yards 3-4 times during the walk. Sad, but true.

Not at this point in life. The swim alone would be a killer. Sitting on a bike that long would destroy your lower body. Strangely enough, running the marathon would be the easiest part.

Yea, that’s the order.

I have no idea how long it would even take me to swim that distance.

Finishing an Ironman and racing an Ironman are two very different things.

If you are not obese, don't have a serious physical handicap, and can swim, you can finish an Ironman with some basic training. Go out there at 11pm at an Ironman finish line and you will see every type of body type and person you could imagine.

For the majority of regular people, the swim would be the limiter even thought its by far the easiest of the three legs. You can soft pedal your way through the bike and walk through the run. If you can't swim, you are SOL.
