Goes back at you. I’ve said that pretty much anyone with molecular biology knowledge can take a stab at it. It’s fairly established science, and the underlying principles are foundational in any molecular biology lab.
In fact, it was a “home brew” kit that initially identified the a Washington cases because they were sick of getting stonewalled.
The issue isn’t making a kit.
Pretty much only the CDC has the clout to push their stuff through emergency FDA approval. Roche can have a functional kit All they want but it’s moot if they can’t sell it.

They can try to develop whatever they want but the FDA wasn’t allowing any privately developed tests to be used until they proved their accuracy and passed strict testing.
They changed that on February 29th. Go back and read the article I posted.

Exactly , you can’t compare the two. They (usamriid) probably had a sample within a week of the outbreak in China if not sooner . When the big time politicians stop appearing in public then it’s time to worry . Remember it’s was their job to develop the really nasty stuff that you couldn’t stop .

Any institution can run an RUO diagnostic if they do the validation themselves. FDA sucks arse in timeframe of validating things. Validating is something hospitals do all the time.

Rallies full of morons. It will be a minor miracle if one of trump, sanders or Biden don’t get it.
I would honestly be surprised if one of them doesn't end up with it. It being an election year there will likely be quite a few Senators and Congressmen that catch it.

So Bernie had a rally with thousands in attendance today in San Jose, CA, the same county (Santa Clara) where we know there has been at least one instance of community spread.
Santa Clara now has 32 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

I know, baw. I went to buy milk and bread today and 3 different grocery stores were out. I saw a guy crying to the milk stocker and begging him to look in the back. He said he would even take expired stuff.

SIAP that a church group from Mobile Landed in Israel Mar 3, went to their hotel. A departed guest got home to Greece where he tested positive for Corona, leading to testing the hotel staff where there were multiple positive tests.
The church group was told to leave the hotel which they did. Then they were told to return to the hotel, which they did, and the hotel turned them away. While taking shelter at a local home, authorities came, told them to return to the hotel and they are now quarantined for 14 days.
Not exactly a scenario that fills you will a good feeling that TPTB have a firm grip on the situation.

Epidemiologist predicts effects of coronavirus in the months ahead
Some light reading with actual retrospective data from a peer reviewed medical journal.
Clinical features of patients infected with 2019 novel coronavirus in Wuhan, China
Epidemiological and clinical characteristics of 99 cases of 2019 novel coronavirus pneumonia in Wuhan, China: a descriptive study
What strikes me is the mortality rate of those requiring hospitalization (11% in one study 15% in the other). Influenza hospitalization mortality rate is think is around 6%?

Out of 108 residents. I'm assuming none of the deaths are from the staff, so maybe that number could be off.

- Parma
- Piacenza
- Reggio Emilia
- Rimini
- Pesaro and Urbino
- Alessandria
- Asti

- Verbano-Cusio-Ossola
- Vercelli
- Padua
- Treviso
quote:
The head of the Lombardy's intensive care crisis unit says the health system is on the brink of collapse, intensive care being set up in hallways. By March 26 they predict ~18,000 #Covid19 cases in Lombardy, of which ~3,000 will need intensive care.
