No bat soup. Turtle was the weirdest thing on menu. I stuck mostly to the sausage, checken, beef and rice

I agree but the possible cases and confirmed cases tripled in a day in the US.

In China where there’s a extremely high population density, the government probably isn’t as prepared, and many people are already living in not the most hygienic places.

I ordered a jersey on DHgate on Jan 13. Is that fricking thing gonna arrive infected? That’s assuming it arrives at all in the near future

Key word: “possible”. Nothing is confirmed yet nor do we have a death in the United States yet. Until we do I’m not getting all freaked out about it.

Definitely going to be washing all the LSU national championship gear that I bought on the sterilize cycle before wearing!

That's exactly what you described. The soup is pretty good.

Flu kills like 1 in 10,000. This thing may be killing 1 in 20. It’s a big deal.
You're missing the point. Point is the seasonal flu is a far, far greater risk to the average American right now.
This obviously should be monitored, and for people affected it's a very real concern, but the risk to any person in America is essentially nil.

Does that mean I will turn into a zombie like all the homeless romping around town?

Funny you mention coffee.
Coffee was the driving factor behind SARS jumping from bats to humans.

Admins, please sticky this thread. Seems like this one is gonna last awhile. Especially with one of our own in harms way.

quote:Well we have people believing that it has a reproductive ratio of 14 and mortality rate of 5%. That’s as easily spread as measles and way more deadly, and way more easily spread than the 1918 Flu (5 to 6 times) and anywhere from 25 to 50 percent as deadly, which would probably make it more deadly on an aggregate global level.
Is this the fear mongering thread where everyone claims it's the end of the world
So using the midpoint estimates of the 1918 Spanish Flu, we’re looking at about potentially 300+ million deaths worldwide based on this thread.

Don't pop the packing bubble wrap, it contains contaminated Chinese air.

The flu kills a staggering number of otherwise healthy kids each year. People think it's just a bad cold and you don't need to take precautions. That attitude is irresponsible and ends up getting tens of thousands of extra people infected that otherwise wouldn't. Yet no one is afraid of the flu.
Yet people lose their fricking minds about coronavirus when everyone and their mothers in the medical field are actively working on containing it.
This is a big fricking nothing burger as far as America is concerned.
