I legit did the same thing to a girl I was dating back around 2001….I picked her up from a friends house to go to a business function and she dressed up like she was going to be serving drinks at the dollar ballet on half off night. I was polite and told her that it looked good but this was a conservative business function. She thought it was good enough and sternly told me she was going as she was dressed. She was right! We left and I drove straight to her Mom’s house where I dropped her butt off before going to the party solo. She was hella pissed for a day or 2 and got over it.

Yes you fricking do care. That outfit was completely inappropriate for a christmas party. Especially a work one. It looks fricking stupid, much less too skanky

The outfit didn't really seem that outrageous to me. But that's just me. I don't think either person is truly wrong, but rather they are just wrong for each other. The guy wants a conservative girl(in dressing,not politics) who doesn't wear make-up, and this girl is not that kind of person. I don't think either either is necessarily wrong, they just aren't right for each other.

She's frickable, but nothing worth losing sleep over (unless she has the greatest personality in the world and just didn't know how to dress appropriately for a social function, which I highly doubt is the case).
A guy with enough self awareness to know he shouldn't bring a date to a work function dressed like that should be able to find someone better.

If you read the story, it seems like she may have been too dressed up for him. It goes on and on about how he doesn't like her with makeup and was ok going to dinner with her dressed like that, but didn't want to go to this party with her dressed up. It's strange and doesn't make sense.
