think he's referring to the fact that taxpayers were paying for that mfer for 15 years and it wasn't built before the 2016 flood when they KNEW it would be necessary in a catastrophic flood event.

Understand fluid dynamics and get back to the board.....
just because you perceive it a problem doesn't mean its a problem.....

I am being 100% serious. Louisiana citizens need to become more vocal and hold politicians more accountable, because Louisiana really does need infrastructure improvements.
While I know every state has its issues, Louisiana has to be one of the worst when it comes to infrastructure. And if everyone waits for the politicians to do anything on their own, they will just keep avoiding it.

they probably think that putting openings in the divider now would be an admission of guilt.

Sure. But maybe only half as bad on the north side.

Someone needs to start knocking a few holes in that dam - NOW!!!

This will never end well for Louisiana.
Reconcile yourself to the fact that Louisiana is one of the best Caribbean nations on the fricking planet.
All of a sudden, we’re golden Jerry!

Most definitely. But the primary issue was not the elected people but the Nimby Culture that is preserved in Louisiana aka the same reason we can't get a frickin Loop Built.
The property owners in the project's path fought like hell and tied up the project in courts for years.
Whatever Texas does needs to be done here. We gone build this here road or whatever the frick we need for this area and you can take the market value for your property or frick off. We comin!

My favorite concept in Civil Law. Something wrong? Well don’t fix it now, that will just screw you more.
In general, subsequent remedial conduct may not be proffered in civil cases in order to prove negligence.
It is somewhat difficult to get remedial conduct into evidence since there is a strong public policy argument to avoid deterring individuals from making improvements or repairs after an accident.
While many entities and attorneys advising them avoid remedial conduct a properly planned defense can all but assure those are never an issue in a civil case. That said while it is fairly easy to avoid and there are lots of journal articles about remedial action admissibility I have seen lots of what I considered good defense attorneys botch their evidentiary presentation and open the door to allow lack of remedial action into evidence.
The long and short of it from my POV is fix it and have good counsel.

August 2016 the north side of 1-12 was 4’ deep while the south side was clear.
Only in that cropped picture of a high spot that got everyone worked up. If you planned out you could see water was flowing just fine around that high spot.

Um.... that’s not how that works.
If the volume of water is constant, increasing the area would lower the level of water.
Yes there possibly could have been houses on the south side of 12 that would have flooded. But it likely would’ve substantially lowered the level of damage on the north side.

Who can we contact? I-12 center barrier has no flow through drainage from the Amite River to Satsuma exit. August 2016 the north side of 1-12 was 4’ deep while the south side was clear.
Rain estimates are 25”+ possible for Livingston Parish. Someone needs to start knocking a few holes in that dam - NOW!!!
Since you are making a wish list, you should add an alternative east-west route south of I-12 between Denham and Hammond.

Has a study been done yet. You don't get anything done in La without a study.
