Who can we contact? I-12 center barrier has no flow through drainage from the Amite River to Satsuma exit. August 2016 the north side of 1-12 was 4’ deep while the south side was clear.
Rain estimates are 25”+ possible for Livingston Parish. Someone needs to start knocking a few holes in that dam - NOW!!!

One would think this issued would have been resolved by now. Just like the Comite River Diversion canal.

Believe it or not, work has started on the canal. If they started on it the day following the flood, it still wouldn’t be done

I’m sure someone will if the river starts backing up.

I thought the diversion canal was actually being worked on (as opposed to the monumental amount of ignoring the I12 Dam has been the subject of).

I think he's referring to the fact that taxpayers were paying for that mfer for 15 years and it wasn't built before the 2016 flood when they KNEW it would be necessary in a catastrophic flood event.

Just buy a house on the south side of I-12. Problem solved.

A sump pump on the north side should take care of that problem for you.

Whoever you contact will get on it right away. That's how government works.

If my property were threatened by that thing I would rent a bulldozer and at the first sight of floodwaters, run right through that thing

DOTD is being sued by the City of Walker over that, so they probably think that putting openings in the divider now would be an admission of guilt.

I'm pretty sure "knocking a few holes" in the barrier could cause it to structurally fail, when the lovely I-12 speeders crash into it. Which opens up new problems.

Having said that, they have known about this problem for 3 years, and the fact they have done nothing to solve it is both very depressing and completely unsurprising.

My favorite concept in Civil Law. Something wrong? Well don’t fix it now, that will just screw you more.
