I stopped and paid for my purchases. No other rules of commerce are applicable.
You and others on here who believe you should be mandated to show your receipt to a sentinel or face police interrogation best stock up on lube. You will need it when you reach the exit door.

Its not my job to assure loss prevention at the store. There are many other situations where our safety and property would be safer if similar processes were enacted but there are constitutional safeguards preventing this.

There is case law in regards to this.
They can ask, you can refuse. There is no recourse for them if you do so.
But only a private club (Costco/Sams) has the ability to punish (by revoking membership.

They have the right to do what they want and they exercised it. So do I and I exercised my right to refuse. My question was is there any legal premise for them to demand I show the receipt or be subject to police intervention.
Very simple question. If it does not bother you , fair enough. If you think it is a small issue to an extent you may be right. I choose to stand up to what I believe are incorrect policies . I am not certain what justifies a store banning a customer , but I suppose they could elect to do so for refusing to show a receipt and lose the substantial business they get from me.

What difference does it make to them what you actually bought? Maybe they want to glance it over and verify it actually looks like what's in the cart. Not 10 things in the cart and 3 on the receipt sort of deal? You're a customer trading for their goods in their store. There's nothing illegal about, unethical or unconstitutional about it. Stop being a trouble maker and stop being a loser.
