The sentinel then ran outside to report this to the police officer stationed by the doors. He stopped me ad told me i had to show the receipt. I responded that they have no right to see the receipt as I was not accused of a crime.
The officer then said you have to show it to me. I told him unless they accused me of stealing there was no probable cause. The sentinel then confirmed they were not accusing me of stealing.
Hell they don't even check it thoroughly. Just show the fricking receipt.

Agree with you it’s a pain in the arse. Most times I just say “I’m good” and keep walking. Never had anyone follow.

One of a couple of reasons...first of all, I don't see the advantage of Sam's or Costco....when I can but the same stuff at any number of stores without paying a cover charge at the door.
I don't neccesarily mind showing the receipt I don't like standing in line to do so. Our local Costco stays packed 'cause white folks like to buy peanut butter in huge packages....and therefore to exit the place you have to stand in a second line after standing in the line to check out, which is ALWAYS a LONG line. I have never bought anything at either place that seemed worth the effort. My wife shops at our local Costco and it seems to make her happy so who am I to judge.
I admire Costco as a business though...they pay their employees a decent wage and they have great customer loyalty...it just ain't for me.

It's Walmart's decision to check receipts and if you don't like it you can shop elsewhere.

Madison v. Marbury specifically allows Wal Mart greeters to inspect receipts upon leaving so long as the person is not detained for an unreasonable amount of time.

Its my decision not to show a receipt. Ball back in Walmart's court.
They interjected the police . I interjected constitution and walked away. Police did not pursue any further as there was no crime alleged.
If you dont stand for something you will fall for anything.

I'm sorry, but Hylton v. United States clearly demonstrated that Walmarks greeters did not have the authority to inspect that receipt, or tax the customer's carriage.
