my buddy is 41 and just quit his gig as a HS teacher to be a house inspector.
Hes training to get all certifications but he already said hes making more money and working half the hours.

I post this link in every one of these threads: Johnson O'Connor Institute. Best money I ever spent in my life and had wished I had discovered it sooner. Every graduating high school senior should have it done and every mid-life career change should have it done (that was me).

If you do leave teaching consider how it will negatively impact your dating pool though

Not sure if it helps, but I’m a high school teacher as well who just stopped coaching for the first time in 9 years, it’s done wonders for my mental health

then he's lying, have to get the certs first, then get "apprentice" time OTJ with someone who is certified before you can start inspecting

Mrs. Tantal manages an entire region for a major insurance company. Her average agents make in the low six figures. Her top producers pull down $20-25K/MONTH! If you develop a knack for it, it can be quite lucrative.

You could try being a Landman (Oil & Gas). I've worked with many former teachers in this field. Experience is a plus, but it's a job that can be taught while working. One downside is most landmen are "Self-Employed" unless you work in house with an Oil Company.

I completely understand and quit coaching football after 9 years of coaching. I have 4 young children and wanted to be home more and its been amazing! I am now the JROTC instructor with the Air Force Auxiliary at my school and its so much better than coaching football.

The only reason I’m opposed to that is my wife and I want to start having kids. I’d prefer a normal-ish schedule.
