My mom was a teacher and got her real estate license when she quit. She is a broker now and has a former teacher that works under her as an agent.

This is not the type of job that gives a steady pay since it's based off of commission, but it may be something to think about. You would be free to set your own schedule and work as much (or as little) as you want.

Oh that’s funny, I actually might be looking to move to corpus in the next year. I live in SA.

If you want to start working in an office and don’t want to do sales, you can maybe look into bookkeeping or other entry level accounting positions. I am a book keeper with no degree (yet) and it is not too bad. Sort of boring but I’m off at 5 every day unless I choose to stay later and it is not too difficult. You can take some accounting classes once you start and move up that way, or just move up through work. You should be able to start at equal or more than what you are making now.

I quit teaching public school and started teaching at a residential mental health facility for teenage boys. There are no extracurricular activities. You basically work a shift and leave. Behavior is an issue but none of the kids have access to a gun.

Go work in a corporate HR department. Pays decent especially when you are good. They are begging people these days plus your teaching career will help you explain stuff to adult children in the workforce

Correct. I should have clarified he is working as an apprentice currently and has what he needs up to this point and will be ready to be on his own in Jan

There are accelerated nursing programs. You can graduate in as little as 16 months. Pay is 25-90/HR depending on what structure you choose (Staff, Part-time, PRN, Agency, In house agency) and you can work as many or as few hours as you want.

Don't do it for money. You have to like helping people or you will burn out quickly.

I do this and umpire youth baseball on the side. It’s more fun and relaxing work, but not enough money for a career.

Serious answer-get some cyber security certifications and start part time contract labor. Work your experience level up and eventually you will be making nice money (way more then teacher).

Biggest advantage is you can wfh. Disadvantage is the money/dedication to get thru the 3 or 4 certs required.

I run a freight brokerage and have hired 2 teachers in the last year who are doing really well. Strongly consider the transportation industry as it’s fast paced and never boring.
