Dallas has a generally better climate and dont have to worry about hurricanes so i pick DFW specifically fort worth

both are large and hot. you will get flooding in Houston and potentially hurricanes. you will get ice in Dallas and potentially tornadoes. Dallas is probably a little bit cleaner, generally speaking. Houston has better food.
i grew up in houston and lived there again for awhile as an adult, and i will never move back there. i woudl move to Dallas before going back to Houston, as much as i generally dislike the pretentious Dallas attitude.
Fort Worth is far superior to both.

If living in the suburbs, for all intents and purposes, they are the exact same.

People wise, Dallas never stops competing with the $30,000 millionaire. Have fun wearing a full suit to drive your 300 series BMW out on a weekend night. Houston seems more down to earth, good hearted people.
If you like freshwater fishing Dallas has more and better lakes. Houston more for offshore. With that said, I’ve caught multiple 10+lbers on Conroe but it’s a grind to fish.
Restaurants, nightlife are the same. Suburbs are the same outside the pretentiousness of Dallas.
Both are major hub airports.
Cowboys play the Texans this week FWIW.

Both hot as hell from June-October
Houston is humid and worse in my opinion.
Traffic is worse in Houston.
DFW gets tornadoes. Houston gets hurricanes. Dallas is more likely to get ice.
Both have sprawling suburban hell.

I'd live in Fort Worth before both if given the chance. It's the best large city in Texas.
