Dallas has zoning. Houston is so random it’s frustrating.

Dallas does not get ice storms every year. Lived there for 8 years and had only one ice storm where I didn’t leave for 36 hours. I live in league city now. Both have their pros and cons.

Dallas is a much better organized and manicured city. People are probably a little worse but the Dallas snob thing is very overstated - they're friendly snobs.
I'd definitely pick DFW over Houston and I don't hate Houston or anything.

They don't need ice storms. Dallas builds flyover after flyover, so when it rains anytime between October and March, said flyovers will be sanded and possibly closed when it rains.
Dallas is full of jeets (severe problem) and people that say shite like, "Dallas is like a Houston with culture." (Houston is easily the most diverse city in TX) I wish I was kidding. Dallas has cities, not Municipal utility districts like Houston. They have sports facilities out the arse compared to Houston. Dallas (at least in the counties I looked in) do not rape the ever loving shite out of you on property assessed values like Houston area assessment districts do.
Houston has MUDs. This means you pay for drainage and shite within your 1/2 mile area. It also means there is one little league park within 20 miles. There is a jeet problem, often exhibited by voting for any billion dollar bond that has "school district" attached to the name, right before the student driver magnet gets attached to their car. And the biggest offense, especially in Fort Bend county, is that the assessment district will f*@# you with a baseball bat sideways increasing your assessed value to the max the state allows, regardless of the economy or layoffs. The house I sold in 2022 was projected to increase in value 40% in 4 years, regardless of market value. Yet, when I looked at Collin county in Texas, they had increases of 1%, 4%, 2%, etc. over the same period.
Tax rates matter less than the evil shite of the assessment districts, particularly in Fort Bend.
If you have a social climber or Latina wife, she will want Dallas all day. If you have a have that will pack a lunch for you and meal prep, she doesn't care, and would rather live in Brenham or somewhere outside of Houston anyway.

I’ve lived in Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth. Love them all. Currently in Fort Worth. Nowhere is perfect.
