If people would act civilized and police up their own poop around the neighborhood this would not be a problem. Police up your street poop, please, and that goes for your little dog, too, Dorothy.

You coudn't pay me enough to be the neigbhorhood dog poop lab tech, but I'm sure there are plenty of bored power hungry housewives out there who would do it for free!

Friend of mine lived in an upscale apartment complex where they did this, later on one of the girls in the office told him it was bogus and used as a scare tactic.

Seems like it would cost a lot to get a DNA analyst of a dog but who knows

As a person on an HOA board, I would laugh if anyone seriously brought this up.

Skipped the most important step…

DNA the home owner. If sphincter tightness can hold water for a full day, they can only rent.

My apartment threatened using this but they never followed through. Thought this was crazy when i first heard of it.

honestly with all of the inconsiderate owners feeling like theyre too good to clean up after their pet , i feel its a necessity. Its a minefield out there

I am down with this. I’m on a corner lot in MidCity BR, and step in dogshit while mowing my grass at least once every 2-3 weeks. I always carry bags when I walk my dog. Pick up your poop, people!

As a former HOA president, I would try not to laugh at whoever suggested this as it might trigger a crazy person.

As a resident, I would be tempted to go to the local dog park, gather a great many samples, and then dump them on whoever implemented this policy's lawn.

If a dog crapping in my yard is the worst thing that happens to me today, it's probably been a pretty good day.

Then again, while hiking last weekend I was overwhelmed by the urge to shite, and I didn’t have a bag so I sat on a downed tree and dropped one. Wiped w beautyberry leaves. It was off the trail so no one could step in it tho. Prolly attracted some flies.

Ok. As a scientist who wrote is masters thesis on genetics, finding out the back end is only 1/2 the equation. The other part is finding the offender. Compelling folks to submit their pets to a DNA swab is going to be a heavy lift.

We had that 10 years ago in the apartment complex I was living in at the time.

I sincerely don’t understand people who don’t pick up after their dogs. In the very rare instance in which I run out of bags mid walk, I feel like a terrible person

Coming soon ?? As a poster above me pointed out, many 'upscale' buildings/communities been doing this for at least 10 years .

I know some places here in South Florida that do it. They make you give a DNA sample from your dog when you move in. Then they have samples to compare when they need it. It's ridiculous but honestly so is the problem of people letting their dogs shite all over the neighborhood.

By default I am generally very warm and friendly when neighbors pass by my house, but if someone lets their dog shite in my lawn. I’m out the front door within seconds and forcing them to pick it up.

frick that, you uncivilized monsters.
