CNN continued to reach new lows this week after the network’s anchor expressed her disappointment that an alleged hate crime at the United States Air Force Academy turned out to be a hoax, suggesting it was “unfortunate” that cadets weren’t actually racist.

Quite a stretch.

It could be unfortunate that some pathetic soul has to stoop to the level of faking things like this.

I immediately said it was fake as soon as some SJW shared it on Facebook (I'm trashy)

Everyone wants to be a victim in today's society.

I really wish mods could crack down on fake and misleading thread titles like this one for all of TD.

That isn't at all what she suggested.

She said it's unfortunate to find out who actually wrote it

Why is that "unfortunate"?

CNN also darkens/lightens Don Lemon based on the story he's handling. Take notice if you're ever browsing this shite channel. Reporting on racism etc he's very dark. Discussing financial topics or missing planes he's Michael Jackson tint.

I'm not going to go apeshit over it, but her wording is sort of strange when she says "it was unfortunate to learn" it was a hoax. Is it "worse" being a hoax than being legitimate racist activity at the Air Force Academy? I mean, should't you actually be happy it was a hoax rather than the alternative?

Perhaps because it will lead people to take actual instances of hate speech less seriously on the future?

It's possible and likely she just meant it's unfortunate some a-hole fabricated this whole thing.

I agree that the wording is dumb, but I don't think she meant this:

quote:

it "worse" being a hoax than being legitimate racist activity at the Air Force Academy

Both scenarios are unfortunate and that's what I think she meant, but worded it a retarded way.

my interpretation was that it's unfortunate this happened, period. Not that it's unfortunate that a white person didn't actually write the messages.

I hate CNN as much as the next guy, but this is pretty absurd.

It's exactly what she said. I suppose you can interpret her meaning according to personal bias.

I don't think she meant that it's unfortunate that it wasn't real but she did express angst that it was a fake

Why would this make someone happy?

If it’s not a hoax, a crappy person did it.

If it is a hoax, a crappy person did it.

The way I see it, the whole thing is unfortunate either way.
