This response isn’t directed at cas4t- it was just the last post.

HFC- some of you people are insufferable. You mock the SJW set at their “faux outrage” and turn around and do the exact same thing except your target is now CNN. It really makes your protests of other situations look silly. Take a step back and stop lookin at everything through quasi-political lenses. Thee is a real world out there and it is beautiful. But some of you can’t experience that because you are too worked up about CNN. Christ.

I'm not going to go apeshit over it, but her wording is sort of strange when she says "it was unfortunate to learn" it was a hoax. Is it "worse" being a hoax than being legitimate racist activity at the Air Force Academy? I mean, should't you actually be happy it was a hoax rather than the alternative?

Sadly, this is pretty honest from CNN, they used try to hide their bias or agenda. No more, they are, at the least, so desperate, that they'll outright admit it.

Actually, you’re not being prosecuted for either. The criminal justice system doesn’t care if someone hates black people.

Okay, but what is the underlining crime? Vandalism for writing on a dry erase board?

I'm not being intentionally obtuse, I'm asking sincerely.
I thought racist, intimidating acts could be hate crimes, its not only for physical violence. I could be wrong though. My point being, those 3 other black cadets that were targeted by this fool certainly felt discriminated against and possibly scared until the truth was revealed. Just because he's black he shouldn't get a pass for doing that to them.

She didn't say "it was unfortunate to learn" it was a hoax.

What she said was:
"The speech still stands, the words ring true, its just unfortunate to find out - really, all the way around - who wrote it"

The "speech" is the statement from the Air Force Academy Superintendent, Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria about the need for a culture of dignity and respect at the academy.

It's pretty clear that she's saying that the statement was a good statement and its unfortunate that its now tainted by the false accusation. But even if that part weren't clear, "really all the way around" is literally in the middle of the quote everyone is getting all worked up about and pretending means some narrow ridiculous things...regardless of what you think she was originally saying was unfortunate, she throws in "really all the way around".

Anyone who hears/reads "really, all the way around" in the middle of a quote, removes that language from the quote, and then pretends that the quote means something very specific and could not possibly apply to a situation more broadly, is acting in bad faith. There's no other explanation. You are literally removing words universally understood to make a statement applicable to an entire situation, and then with those words removed, claiming that the statement was not meant to apply to an entire situation.

This is actually pretty interesting to me, because I'm curious about which posters in this thread are doing this intentionally and are attempting to advance an agenda without regard to reality and which haven't bothered to read or listen to the actual quote and are just balls of stupid anger being pulled along for the ride. In modern politics it's become very difficult to tell the difference between the marks and the sharks.

Why is that "unfortunate"?
Because it is.

Is it fortunate that it was a hoax? No, it's unfortunate.

Perhaps because it will lead people to take actual instances of hate speech less seriously on the future?

I don't think it needs to be physical, but the "hate" part comes from the motivation, and it still requires an actual crime to be committed. I guess my question is this - what was the crime? Ignore the hate part for now.

I assume it would have been vandalism, but I'm not really sure how/where the stuff was written. I just saw a dry erase board on the outside of a door.

It's just odd that she even said the who wrote it part.

"The speech still stands, the words ring true, its just unfortunate all the way around"

That would have been what to say

Anyone who ever even entertained the idea wasn’t a hoax in the first place needs to go sit in the corner with their crayons and bicycle helmet while they wait on the short bus.

Sho is.

If it were not a hoax, it would mean the academy had white racists in the school.

So if a white guy writes this, it should be handled differently than if a black guy did it?

That’s no worse than learning that you have a deranged black person at the school.
