No it's not. Most states require the defense to prove by the preponderance of the evidence (or even higher with clear and convincing evidence) that there person is insane.
In Massachusetts, the defense merely has to present some credible evidence of insanity, then the state has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she's not insane.

Not really. A black mom was recently declared insane in another case of a mom killing her kids. A key takeaway from that case was that the mom did not take any of the medication prescribed to her and instead smoked weed everyday.

I wonder if this is true. I know there have been a lot of women supporters on the news, but these seem like fringe to me.
As a woman, I can NOT imagine murdering my children. The thought makes me physically sick to my stomach. And I really struggled with hormones after birth. Especially my last because I was older and in the throes of perimenopause as well. Some women are harder on other women than men are.

So if we acknowledge that hormones can cause women to go completely out of their minds to the point of murdering all three of their kids sequentially, why should we trust them to be president, vote, be in the military, be police officers, etc? If my kids went to daycare do I need to be concerned if their teacher has recently had a kid? Where is the line?
I don't think the femboss clancy-lovers realize how this trial result could look in terms of autonomy for women. As a married man with two daughters its actually pretty insulting to women in a way.
