The same 3 posters keep saying this bullshite. But nobody can tell us what it would cost and why it hasn't been happening incrementally for 22 years?
I don’t know what it costs to trench deep enough for electrical transmission lines but I know I had to directional bore electrical lines to my house. It was around 100 yards and it cost me $11,500.

While I was employed there, Entergy’s SAIFI and SAIDI were among the nations best.
SAIFI - System average interruption frequency index
SAIDI - System average interruption duration index
it still is and it always has been.
I’m no expert on any of this shite but I spend a lot of time working with Entergy at Entergy facilities. I also work quite a bit at and for DEMCO. These companies are easily the best run I’ve ever come across in this backwardsass state and frankly I’m shocked they elect to continue here
this is a classic case of “don’t like it then do it yourself”. On the gulf coast you can either have trees or 100% uptime. Pick one

We need competition for power providers and that's the bottom line.
How would that competition impact the reliability of utility poles in your neighborhood?

Gulf States sold Entergy a mess of dirt cheap minimalistic infrastructure and was practically bankrupt the time Entergy bought it
That's what is now Entergy Texas, right?

WHY can one damaged pole take out power to 200 homes? Answer why that is the case in 2021?
Because Entergy doesn't have redundant lines running to your neighborhood / house. So when that line/pole goes down, they can't reroute the power. Just gotta fix it.

Are you really compare between low voltage (EATEL, Cox) to high voltage? Wow just wow man
No. I was comparing company to company. Cox Sucks and Eatel does not.
Cox makes customers believe they should be grateful the internet works as much as it does.
Eatel just makes their shite work with buried fiber.
Entergy treats customers like Cox. That's the point.

Entergy sucks and you white knights for them suck too
Just wait till you see the alternative.
ISP is not even close to comparable to a power utility.

ENTERGY> government run anything
I'd get the F out of New Orleans and let them piss on their own shoes.

I'm sure this "probe" will be completely fair and impartial.
Considering that initial reports after the storm were that NOLA would be out of power for 6-8 weeks and they got nearly everything back up and running far quicker than that, I would think their response was acceptable to say the least.

A friend of mine that works with Entergy a lot told me flat out a couple of days after the storm that the 6-8 weeks was a total lie and it would take about 2 weeks, Entergy loves to make it appear that they are over-delivering.
That being said, I think they did a good job and if NOLA actually follows through and kicks Entergy out and takes it over themselves, I am out. That is the last straw. I had planned on attempting to move out soon anyway into JP, but my house will likely be on the market that week.

That’s the hardest part is initially after the storm no one knows what it’s going to take until you are able to access the whole system which takes a few days

I'm no fan of the city of New Orleans but Entergy is in the same class as them, they are corrupt as well. I get my power from a co-op that buys power from Entergy, our bills are lower than the unlucky costumers that are in the spots that still have Entergy. How can that be? We don't get charged all the bullshite fees Entergy charges their customers.
If I was in New Orleans and will be serviced by the city with power I would get the hell out of there as fast as I could. Once they take it over and get hit with a hurricane it will be a disaster.

NOLA only had cat one winds, tops.

They totally do this all the time. They will send me a text when the power i out saying "We estimate it will be back on in 6 hours" and it comes back on in one so it looks like they did a great job. It's painfully transparent.

Yeah I don't know how anyone here thinks Ida was a cat 5 anywhere, much less New Orleans where it was barely a Cat 1. Entergy's failure here is bald, admitting they can't handle a Cat 1 hurricane. My mother in Houma was barely out longer than I was here in the city.
