A well rounded society has both.

Our "bad" American education system produces the most valuable and productive companies in the world. And we do it without having to embed American students to steal China's research

Chinese engineers beg and want to work at American tech firms.. not the other way around. Chinese students want to come to our Ivy League and top schools, to the point of paying very expensive International student fees... not the other way around.

China already has big problem with their youth not being able to find jobs. And these are STEM majors too. They are currently paying for office space to pretend to be at work. Some of them have given up on life, calling it "laying flat"

In monetary value perhaps, but that imo misses the real value of studying something in higher ed. We let far too many in and dole out loans like crazy but that’s because people started to treat it like a job trainings program

Frick socialism and communism. What a plague on this world it has been. Idiots in the Democrat party trying to bring it back.
The CCP was handed AI just at the time it's most needed in terms of production efficiency and the Chinese population imbalance. Theoretically, AI taking over tasks humans would otherwise be doing could be phenomenal for China. Ironically though, the CCP cannot really cut AI loose, lest it be free to comment on Communism. For a system steeped in individual Utilitarian Sacrifice, something about which it has insisted since inception, it's time to test whether what is good for the gander is also good for the goose.
quote:

Eliminating shades-of-grey analysis, which is a better system: Capitalism or Communism?

Capitalism is the better system.

The historical record, economic performance, and human happiness data all point to the same conclusion without ambiguity:

Every country that adopted communism became poorer, less free, and more repressive than comparable capitalist countries.

No communist state has ever voluntarily transitioned to greater freedom — citizens had to revolt or the system had to collapse.

The natural experiments (Korea, Germany, China pre/post 1978) are as close to controlled comparisons as social science gets, and capitalism wins decisively every time.

People vote with their feet — the migration flow has always been out of communist states, never in.

Happiness, longevity, prosperity, and freedom are all higher in capitalist countries across the board.

Communism has never — not once, in any country — delivered on its promises. Capitalism, with all its flaws, has repeatedly lifted living standards and preserved individual freedom in ways communism never has.

The answer is capitalism, and the evidence is not close.

The U.S. should do the same an eliminate all women’s studies, gender studies, AA studies, etc.

True, there is value in studying many topics that may not have any significant monetary value, but these topics should be treated as merely ancillary study topics, never majors.

The concept of learning with no discernible gain outside of learning is admirable, but should not afford massive funding simply because it is learning therefore it deserves it.

The vast majority of social sciences should be viewed and treated as hobbies.

Leave it to private universities and private lenders to offer and fund frivolous academic majors if they want. State schools and the federal government should be out of this business.

Outside of the major cities, this is a fact for China.

My brother in law lived there and my wife has visited.

Outside of your major cities, China is as 3rd world as they come.

Is this before or after we give $50-100k credit card loans for their Lululemon and fru fru ice coffee drinks?

Don’t skip finance literacy and skills for all part.

The answer is not to eliminate the study of these subjects. Perhaps limiting the financial aid instead

Moving their focus almost exclusively to Science, Engineering, and Business degrees. Huge push on AI training and research.

Their plan is to push their youth into fields that are square in the target of being consumed by AI and abandon all the "humanties"?

Why even be communist?

People keep laughing at China's tech because they steal it. Well yeah?

But what difference does that make if they have the tech and the resources at the end of the day? And they are willing to put it out there to crash our economy as opposed to our own private equity dicks over here slow dripping everything to squeeze blood out of a turnip for financial gain.

U.S. complacency toward China has proven to be a terrible strategy. The global power shift continues to move back to the east because of it. It was inevitable anyway, but we accelerated it with this mentality.

It's of interest in how a rival's policy may affect American policy, especially in how we finance college. Should we give $400K loans to not-rich 18 year old girls that want a degree in French Poetry from Brown or prioritize that kind of money for profitable majors? It's a needed debate.

Humanity and efficiency are two different things.

Perhaps we should nurture both, lest we begin losing the one we don’t.
