You are giving her way too much credit. She’s advocating being a lazy arse which is exactly what her constituents want to hear.

Changes are good and EBRPSS should move people around from top to bottom every 4-5 years. Familiarity often led to all kinds of preferential treatment, schisms, lack of productivity, and complacency.

If only she followed her own advice and didn’t run for re-election.

She has been on the council since 2013. Guess that 9 years of familiarity, preferential treatment, schisms, lack of productivity, and complacency is okay when it’s dealing with her

None of us should be so attached to a building, principal, staff, or student population that it dominates us.

This might be the stupidest fricking thing I ever read. This is like telling a football team "As long as you are getting paid you should win. It doesn't matter how the team is managed, how good of a head coach you have, it doesn't matter if you don't have the best equipment to work out with and train on. It doesn't matter what kind of team we put together you are expected to win".

No you dumb bitch. Environment matters and if you don't have a principal who don't know what they frick they are doing, the teachers have no idea what is expected from them and they are trying to get control of their class, but when they send kids to the principal, nothing happens. They are sent back to my class and we are back to square 1 so if you want to talk about jobs.. All you are is an elected official who gets paid too much considering the fact you get absolutely nothing done and if you think its so easy then come do the job for two weeks to show us how its done.. Bitch.. If I were a teacher and taught at whatever schools she directed her message to, I would get fired because I wouldn't be able to help myself and I would send her an email telling her exactly what I posted above. Maybe that's the problem, people need to push back on these idiots.

These are the people who influence this town (well HH and Kibbles not so much) and the problem is they’re not even as right as a broken clock.

And this is why the private schools in Louisiana (specifically EBR) are far superior.

I have a couple of friends in Baton Rouge. When I was bringing up the St. George topic, one said he didn’t know anybody who sent their kids to public school.

The two largest factors are parents and school board administrators.

Also have to have strong administrators at the school level: administrators who have high expectations; who set rules and consequences and stick to them; who aren't afraid of backlash from parents. Once the students realize that there are consequences for their actions, and that the principals aren't fricking around, they eventually start to conform.

Um, I respectfully disagree with this.

quote:

The drawback is I do not invest a lot into forming relationships. I do not participate in extra-curricular activities or volunteer for off-campus events. Gone are the days when I purchased embroidered or printed t-shirts and sweatshirts. In all honesty, I have become detached from my varied school surroundings. I remember a time when I was intentional and “knew by name” my students, parents, and co-workers, none of those traits currently exist.

And she thinks this makes BETTER teachers?

quote:

My mama would say, “There are ONLY two days that matter when a job get tough. She asked, “Do you know what they are?” I would guess, “Saturday and Sunday”! She would respond, “No. The only two days that matter on a job are PAYDAY and OFFDAY!”

Makes sense for so many things in so many ways.

Inept, corrupt, LA politicians in LA are all similar. Let's transfer her to Ferriday, then send her to Golden Meadow next year.

Some people get too complacent when they're in one spot and, theoretically, the poorer performing schools need the better teachers.

So, we should move the good teachers out of our good schools? That seems counterproductive. Perhaps we shouldn’t touch what’s working.

The problem is obviously to big to fix all at once. Maybe the district should pick one school, throw everything at it and see if anything improves it. If you find something that works then apply it district wide. If nothing works, at least you know what doesn’t work and it cost you significantly less resources to learn those lessons.

My suspicion is the only successful model for struggling inner city schools is boarding schools. You have to remove young impressionable minds from their toxic environment. I just don’t see anything like this ever happening, but it’s the only way I can see how you break this cycle.

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would prefer not to send their kids to EBRPSS. They are the pinnacle of academic excellence, and they strive to do the best for their community and children.
