Cars: New, Certified Pre-Owned None of it Matters

The dealer will always try to weasel out of a repair. Luxury, domestic, foreign, they re all the same.
Every fricking time it s YEAH, IDK IF THE FACTORY WARRANTY WILL COVER THIS... Everyone knows damn well they will do anything to protect their margins and will look for reasons NOT to cover it. Bumper to bumper my arse.
And don t forget if you are under warranty, factory or extended, you ll still get fricked with the required bullshite maintenance that needs to happen at the dealership OR you run the risk of voiding it altogether.
The only nice part is having a loaner/not needing to coordinate transportation.
I swear the happiest I ve been is with an out of warranty lower mileage car--zero expectations and never dealt with a dealership. Kept a rolling funds for repairs.
I know it s a fairly universal sentiment, but what dealerships have actually fixed things without trying to make it seem like they were doing you a favor?

Never had any issues with Toyota

I can’t say I’ve ever had an issue using a car warranty. I’ve had a transmission replaced, carburetors, fuel lines. Gaskets… all kinds of stuff. Guess I’m just lucky.

My Kia dealership was awesome. Nissan was too back in the day, I don't know anymore... and haven't had any problems from the Toyota dealership.
I guess I've had good luck.

This is absolutely hasn’t been true with any certified vehicles I’ve owned.

That's why I only buy certified certified preowned vehicles.

The Chevy and Ford dealerships I’ve used didn’t give me any problems with doing warranty work. However they usually find something else they would like you to use them for.

The problem is all the major manufacturers have major powertrain issues they’re trying to avoid having to fix under warranty.
So they’re hemming and hawing trying to limp these Covid era lemons past the point of warranty coverage so they aren’t on the hook for the thousands or tens of thousands in repairs they’re on the hook for if it breaks.
But it’s not all the dealer, much of that is manufacturer pushback.

You know...maybe it's you?
I've had multiple things covered, and found that the less of an a-hole you are, the more you can cut through the red tape.

Dealerships make money off warranty work.

Yeah you got me--I bust in there yelling and screaming at everyone.
My point is that there shouldn't be any red tape--you buy the car brand new, something breaks, the dealership should fix it. Instead, they look for a reason not to or give you the "i'll need to run this by our manager"' bullshite.
Again, they're always making it seem like they're doing you a favor vs just providing the service you're paying for.

I literally got told by a BMW dealer (who I have been using for 2 years after we moved) to go back to the BMW dealership from 2.5 years ago to replace the an interior component that broke again

Never had an issue with warranty work or a dealership in regards to service. My Raptor R motor blew at 22k miles and they replaced the entire motor under warranty, took the truck on trade for a new truck.

Same here. I had a major transmission malfunction in my wife’s car that was out of warranty. I had good reason to believe that the cause of the transmission failure was the dealership’s error during the regularly scheduled “preventative” transmission service.
They ended up getting me a replacement factory refurbished transmission at no cost to me.
It took a while for them to see things my way. It took several visits of calm, professional reasoning.
We got out of it exactly what we wanted without needing to get lawyers involved. Car works like a brand new vehicle.

Tell us what brand you buy, so none of us make that mistake. A decade ago, I had to have 3 of my ex wife's fuel injectors replaced under warranty, and that's the extent of it in almost 50 years.
