Plenty of electricians around.

Carpentry
Plumbing
Truck Driver
Farm Managers
Mechanics (good mechanics these days are really rare and most are in retirement age, younger ones don’t know anything other than what the computer tells them)

We need better police, which is why, instead of defunding the police, they need to be paid more so that it will attract more qualified people.

Police are overpaid. It is an unskilled labor job, the total overall package of pay and benefits far outweigh what other unskilled jobs offer.

Geomatics and geomatic engineering, but in particular land surveying, and even more specifically, boundary and construction surveying.

Part of the problem with the supply not meeting the demand was the years and years of LS being an almost secret and exclusionary profession, and one where licensed practitioners seemingly worked (and did work) against licensure for interns who had qualified for it. However that is/has been changing since the profession is facing an alarming problem of LS retiring and having no one to sell/pass on their practice to.

For young men with a desire to make very good money (if they want to) and who have a desire for freedom and anything but the redundancies of alot of careers (if you ain't traversing you ain't working, and traversing means you're seeing new things) then land surveying is a great avenue to explore.

If a young man wants to be in a career field where he is a respected, licensed professional, and if he doesn't mind walking miles everyday and being out in the elements and getting ticks on him and dodging snakes and rottweilers and loves to explore and be the man behind the project where the huge machines are doing the huge earthwork projects, and if he likes the idea of being the man who set that hundred year old iron pin property corner and who loves to piece together puzzles that are all different but still the same, and if he loves cutting edge technology and computers and drafting and design, flying drones and collecting LiDar data and using 3d laser scanners and doing paralegal work and researching real estate information in courthouses and performing quasi-archeology work, and if he want to be at least fairly physically fit - because he will be before long if he's toting pounds and pounds of $100k worth of instruments across the landscape and chopping lines through briar thickets with a Kaiser blade - then being a licensed land surveyor is a great profession for him. It is not a career for the faint of heart, but for those who find it and like it, they love it, second to none.

And even though land surveyors are critical and needed throughout the world, even though many, if not most, facets of land surveying cannot and will not be automated, it is a career field where recruitment and exploration of its possibilities are astoundingly low, given the multitude of opportunities and benefits that are afforded to a recruit who sees it through to licensureship. Land surveying is one of the most ancient professions man ever created, and yet it is on the cusp of using technological innovation as much as many, if not most, other professions. It is, in my opinion, the best kept secret there is regarding career choices - almost too much so.

I can attest to this! I just bought a new one. Had an issue, and they said it would be 2-3 weeks before someone could come out. This is a 2 month hot tub, under warranty

Are you in BR? I desperately need a hot tub guy

High schools need to focus on trades instead of shoving college & student loans down kids throats

High schools are now offering two types of diplomas. One for kids looking to go to college, and one for kids looking for blue collar work like the jobs you just listed. The curriculums are a little different. If a kid, who chose the technical/IT route decides to go to college, they need to hit the CC route first to get the credits for a 4 year univery.

Please man, take the money you save on the plumbing and hire an electrician. Co-workers son got killed a few months back trying to save a few bucks.

Yeah, I do not mess with electrical stuff at all. I'm well aware of the dangers of it and I'm not familiar with the ins and outs. Other than maybe replacing a switch or outlet, therefore, I leave anything past that to the pros. I may not be the smartest person alive, but I'm bright enough to know when I'm out of my element

Me too. I had an old roommate that worked for a surveying company. It sounded fun as shite, but he quit because he was scared of getting bit by a snake or hit by a car.
