Careers That Need More People But Isn't Encouraged

What careers can people make a good living doing that really isn't a career that people encourage kids to go in?
Like plumbers. There is good money to be made and it is hard to find a good plumber.
I am not sure if this still applies, but when I worked in a local government building permit and inspection department, my boss used to be a contractor and he use to always tell young contractors that a good, reliable plumber is hard to find, but once you find one don't let him go.
What about electricians?
It also seems like there is room for more reliable contractors (residential).

Plumbers
Electricians
Machinists
High schools need to focus on trades instead of shoving college & student loans down kids throats

The problem with trades is people still want it at a dirt cheap price. They say they want a good reliable x, but more often than not, don’t want to pay a premium rate when they get a quote. So you have very few good reliables, and they survive by unfricking emergencies when people can no longer be cheap.

If I had a time machine would go back and be a plumber in a heartbeat. I’m already knee deep in shite with my career choice

I can't get a plumber to pick up phone, call me back, or keep an appointment. Seems if you provide the slightest amount of customer service you could gain a foothold in a market quickly

TV's these days are built to be disposable. Nobody bothers to repair them anymore. It costs just as much to repair as a new one with much updated features.

I am currently in a role labeled Automation technician. Yesterday I changed out a cracked ceiling tile because I was bored. I also helped someone in the control room get a pump running. Haven't done shite yet today.
