Cantore is being overly dramatic and, as usual, wrong about local stuff.

He is standing out at West End flexing his pecs in the wind.
"We're on the western end of Lake Pontchartrain, and all the water is starting to pile up." Ummmm, no you're not. You're on the south shore, right in the middle of the lake.
Like the time he was standing by the river in Woldenberg Park and pointed toward the Crescent City Connection, and said, "All this water is flowing that way toward the Gulf."
I like him but he just tries to sensationalize to get views.

National media is incredibly ill-prepared to
deal with local issues. It’s blatantly obvious when you know the ins and outs of the issue.
It reminds me of the national reporting on the St. George movement.

Yeah, no shite...
There is a reason he doesn't just sit in front of a blank backdrop and report in monotone.

Don't be stupid by ignoring the context of that.

TWC just sucks now. I hate how they reduced the Local on the 8s or took them away. They were a lot better 10-20 years ago when they actually talked about weather and not politics/dumb shows about nothing to do with relevant weather.

So wait. You are telling me TV is driven by ratings? And that since Cantore is popular they use storms to send him in to do dramatic shite so that people will tune in?

He's a nimrod. I full expect that he will move down Lake Shore drive and show videos of the water coming up over the road and start to act like its a huge deal.

You are taught to think journalists know a lot about a topic...until they report on a topic you know a lot about and you learn they are full of shite.

the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect works as follows. You open the newspaper to an article on some subject you know well...you read the article and see the journalist has absolutely no understanding of either the facts or the issues. Often, the article is so wrong it actually presents the story backward-reversing cause and effect. I call these the “wet streets cause rain” stories...you read with exasperation or amusement the multiple errors in a story - and then turn the page to national or international affairs, and read with renewed interest as if the rest of the newspaper was somehow more accurate about far-off Palestine than it was about the story you just read. You turn the page, and forget what you know.

The context of him intentionally standing in a roadside ditch to add extra drama to the shot?

That gif never gets old.

That was fricking great. I was wondering if anyone in that crew saw those random dudes strolling through the scene.

The context that the original report was about not driving in water because you don't know how fast the depth changes.

Sure, the national guys don't know local stuff... but it's not unreasonable for a non-native to think "West End" is on the uhm Western End of the lake. =)
