I unfortunately agree with the premise of this thread. TWC used to be about reporting the actual weather, and they've moved toward making everything appear as bad and disastrous as they possibly can. It's the effing weather. Tell it to me straight...if it's not as bad as expected, good, tell me that.
Also, if you want a great example of Cantore being overly dramatic, take a look at the thundersnow video from the Chicago blizzard. LINK
There's also a video from him in Boston where he goes running around in the snow he's so excited. It feels manufactured, big time.

“We found Cantore the hardest way possible. We found him by accident.”

Has he started wearing his bicycle helmet yet?

Rita was a beast but sitting in the northern suburbs about 100 feet above sea level there really wasn't a risk of storm surge. I didn't hear any meteorologist try to dissuade people from evacuation. Did you see the lines of traffic leaving Houston during Rita?
maybe you heard of a little storm that wrecked a major city about a month prior to Rita.
i mean Houston floods.
and a major storm was barreling towards it.
you specifically may have been in a safe part of town but those south and east of downtown were absolutely in a potentially dangerous place.
meteorologists can’t dissuade you from leaving.
because the moment they do THAT and are wrong it costs people their lives.
telling you to leave and it’s a whimper causes an inconvenience. people will get over it.
telling people it’s cool to stay and disaster hits......people don’t just get over that.

That was fricking great. I was wondering if anyone in that crew saw those random dudes strolling through the scene.
The camera guy obviously saw it and panned out for the lulz.

They were painful last night. Practically begging for a catastrophe.

TWC just sucks now. I hate how they reduced the Local on the 8s or took them away. They were a lot better 10-20 years ago when they actually talked about weather and not politics/dumb shows about nothing to do with relevant weather.
Jill Brown, Jodi Saeland, Sharon Resultan, those were the days, my friend.

Cantore , and now Reynolds Wolf, is standing next to the Southern Yacht Club, about a quarter mile from the house in i used to live in, that I sold approximately one year ago... I’m really, really glad i’m not there anymore.. not even necessarily because it’ll flood , it might not- i was just beyond sick of sitting on pins and needles on days like this, hoping and wishing that the storm would shift course, worrying about what was going to happen, etc.. it’s a relief to not be there anymore, though i still worry about family that lives in NOLA.

All this water is flowing that way toward the Gulf."
Wind was probably blowing that direction, so the surface water was headed upstream.
Plus that's where the west bank is east of the east bank so it's very easy for a non-local to get confused.
Locals don't make that mistake because they know you don't use compass points for direction inside the crescent.

National media is incredibly ill-prepared to
deal with local issues. It’s blatantly obvious when you know the ins and outs of the issue
You would think in a weather event they would hire a local to be on site making sure they have their facts straight and don't look stupid.

Did he ever stand in a ditch with waist high water like Anderson Cooper did to make the flooding seem worse?
