If that's 99.9 of the general population that isn't saying much. Have you seen what the average American looks like? I think you're in the top 50% if you can do 10+.

How many people do you know that can bench 300 lbs? I've read that 1 out of ~3000 men can do it.

ETA: you being able to bench 240 lbs probably puts you in the 98 or 99th percentile.

I can probably get 1 or 2 from a straight arm hang. I was never good at them, but I have tried a bit more the last couple years. I did 5 a while back (subtle brag), but since I've had nagging rotator cuff problems the last year, anything requiring hands above head isn't the greatest feeling in the world.

I'm realtively weak and have gorilla arms. It's my cross to bear. :(

tOT has really gone down hill in the last few years. "I'm fat and out of shape" posts are celebrated and if you're in shape and answer honestly you're downvoted to hell. It doesn't matter, but shows that a loser mindset has definitely taken over.

I'm 46 and can only do 10 pull ups since I tore a ligament in my elbow 8 months ago climbing a rope and it won't freaking heal. The worst thing about being middle aged is how long injuries stay with you.

I'm not sure about my max. But, I did 5 weighted chins last week with a 45lb plate fastened to my waist. Shoutout to the PPSA brethren out there.

That running may do me in. I can bike until the cows come home, but I ran yesterday as part of my cardio, granted it was uphill, but let's just say, it quickly morphed into a brisk walk.

Thanks for the honest reply.

Just as a point of reference, I'll say was likely in the best shape of my life @ close to 40 (the age you are right now). Then the body's natural physiological changes kicked in over the next 10+ years. So come back here in 10 years and talk to us. 50 may not be "old", but nature is a cruel master. When your HGH and testosterone start bottoming out, anything and everything you do (physically) becomes more difficult. Seems like you have to work twice as hard for 1/2 the results.

So as Morpheus said in the Matrix, "There's a difference in knowing the path and walking the path." Hopefully you can stave off some of the effects of time. I hope you do, but everyone's physiology is different. I'm just here to tell you it's not going to be as easy as you think it is.

Good luck.

My step dad was always built like a brick shite house until hit the 55ish mark. His body just couldn't do what his brain wanted to. He's in his 60s now and still gets after it but time catches up with us all.

All that I can say is that in the past 3 years, I have seen an oncologist, an ortho & cardiologist & in all the waiting rooms...full....all the patients were obese & sickly looking. Each doctor, as well as my PT, have said the main reason I am doing so well is that I am in such good shape.....and have never smoked. I am no gym nut but I have always worked out regularly, cardio & some light weight tossing around. If you start off in bad shape, whatever your problem down the road may be, you start off behind.

I could do one when I was in high school on the late 80’s

I don’t need that kind of stress in my life now

I know I can do 10. And that with the right form and long arse arms. Did 10 a few months back when the workout warriors at the rig called bullshite on me. Now push-ups I haven't tried max in a long long time. I do 50 every morning. 2 sets of 25 and then a bunch of crunches when I get back from my trot jog.
