umm yea you neglected your posterior chain big time, you need to get a band and start atleast doing 100 band pull aparts a night to get that upper back some strength
also get a broom stick and start with 25 full range shoulder dislocates(google it) daily and slowly working to 50 a day and working those hands closer and closer.
Neither of those are posterior chain, but I do both daily.

How old, (approximately) are you?
ill be 40 in a couple months. i know plenty that take care of themselves and lift/train that are the ages i said and are in amazing health.
i say amazing because its so uncommon. you mentioned yourself, you dont lift nor do any real form of resistance training which is not surprising as less than 10% of the population in the US does and even less across the world. maybe half of that does real training, most that do that go in and hit a couple sets on some machines with really light weight not coming close to failure and not practicing any form of overload.
resistance training(outside of sleep) is the number 1 anti-aging tool we have. trust me when i say i know the science behind this and am pretty well educated in this area. do yourself a favor and go read the barbell presciption by andy baker. you will not regret it if you take his advice.
especially considering the fact that you are only in your 50s which isnt old at all.

No chance I'm running a 6:05 mile right now. I think full send would be like 6:30 on a good day

What physical feat are you proud of?
When I was a lot younger I could crank out 100 push ups in a set. I've done close to 60 recently but it was tough. 40 push ups isn't hard for me but I do 200 in as few sets as possible almost weekly.
I can do 3 or 4 consecutive muscle ups. 25-30 consecutive pull ups.
Eta: my 73 year old dad can do 3 or 4 pull ups and 25 to 30 push ups.

i cosider everthing from the neck down to calves part of the posterior chain unless i am talking to someone like you that understands. easier that away. talking to you i would describe the upper back in detail but for simplicity i find it easier to not have to do that

i personally find the dilocates and ring rows to be the best indicators for my shoulder health. I have been doing the iron scap program from crossover symmetry to rehab my shoulder lately that i hurt a while back but still doign the shoulder dislocates.

I find this very hard to believe. It's not impossible, but it's puts you in like the 99.9 percentile.

Your post was confusing.
I figured most people can do some push-ups, but I enjoy body weight exercises, in general. Pull-up is one of the hardest things to do, so I thought it a good one to ask about.

I hear that.

Normally do 3 sets of 10. Wide grip and then close grip.

At my daughters school they make the kids now do “sit ups” with nobody holding their feet and hands extended by their sides.
Oof... that is tough. Talk about isolation.

It’s all because as an elementary school you never appreciate what flexibility means for athletic performance because at that age, damn near everything is natural athleticism. Nobody minus Hershel walker works out at 10.
Then you get to HS and you’re like, oh shite, I can run faster if I stretch?

Both of these thing happened when I was at the Citadel. I ran a 5:39 mile (basically untrained) and the most I ever did was over 600 pushup's in one night (I honestly don't know the total, as I lost count).

When I was in my late teens/early-20's, I used to do 3 sets of 100.
I also cycled up Haleakala in Maui when I was in my late 30's. It's the world’s longest paved climb, ascending from sea level to the over 10,000-foot summit in 35 miles, with an average grade of 5.5 percent. I did it self supported and it was a butt kicker. I did very specific hill climb oriented trained for about 3 months before I did it. Fortunately, we've got some very good terrain here to prepare for a ride like that.
The one ride I wanted to do, but could never get the logistics worked out was the "White rim trail in 1 day". It's a 100 mile Mtb ride through Canyonlands national park on a 4x4 road. It's very isolated and there are no resupply points once you start. Caching food and water beforehand are essential and I could never work out how to do that (I didn't have the right vehicle at the time).

Love the variation. Wide grip is my jam. I just moved, and the nearest calisthenics' station has this wide-grip, sloping pull-up bar. Talk about put me in my place. Loved it. Cannot wait to get back out there.

I turned 41 Monday and I’m 6’1 210 to 215. I can probably do 10 to 12 but normally do 4 sets of 6 to 8.

Yes, I can do 40 push ups and at least 1 pull up... not sure how many legit pull ups I can do.

Close grip is easier for me.

For years I’ve done pushups but no pull-ups. My shoulders and chest are super tight and I don’t have “normal” range of motion in my shoulders when stretching them. I’m wondering if I overworked/built one half of the joint muscles.
Yes.
Like anything else, the body is about balance. Variation is key. Maybe get a broom stick, start with some basic mobility movements. Solid place to start. Also, just dead weight hangs. Also also, open palm, down and up, shoulder rotations, with arms extended outwards.
