I always have problems with these "decades ago" charges.

1. Why decades for it to come out.

2. If he was molesting children decades ago. He is still doing it. It's a proven fact that child molestors don't just quit molesting unless you kill them.

Depends who you ask.

They're non-Trinitarian, believe Jesus's spirit was "procreated" by God the Father and a heavenly mother in a premortal realm, and think that humans can become divine in the same sense that Jesus is currently.

Oh, and they make members of other Christian churches get baptized again if they become Mormon.

They aren't Christian. Don't let anyone tell you different. The only ones that refer to them as Christians are often progressive groups are new evangelicals that are more concerned with ecumenism.

There are no rules. Anyone can call themselves "Christian".

In their minds, they are. Most adherents of other "Christian" denominations tend to disagree.

There is no final authority that gets to make the call.

Somewhat misleading headline because most who only read the headline will assume he's Catholic. The headline should read "A Mormon bishop in California has been charged with 18 felony counts of raping children decades ago." Good job OP for putting that in the thread title.
Regardless, He should be gently placed into place into a woodchipper feet first.

Sometimes this is a valid question like if the girl is 16 with a fake id and the man didn't know she was underaged. But in this case I don't think it matters because it happened 18 times and he clearly knew the victim(s) were underaged.

As others have said, "it depends on who you ask."

There are protestant denominations that say they are the only way and some in the Catholic persuasion say "no: regarding protestants. More progressive groups say "yes" to anyone with a cross hanging on their necks,

But when the butter gets churned, I think it boils down to your own particular belief on who Jesus/Yeshua is and His role in the great yonder, and whether or not He is/was God in the flesh.

I am glad I'm not the Judge and have to do all that deciding.

Netflix has two wild, but very good documentaries about the fundamentalist Mormons, FLDS.

One in 2022 Keep Sweet: Pray and Obey about their prophet Warren Jeffs. Then this year had Trust Me: The False Prophet about one of the prophets after Jeffs who was also a predator. These people still had pictures of Warren Jeffs all in their house and worshipped him even though he's in jail as a sexual predator. The next guy up did the same thing.
