The one with more profit. Which business is more successful? Which would you rather own?

The one that had one location generating $10k of profit a year or the business that had a 1,000,000 locations generating $100 of profit a year

In Seattle, they passed mandatory cost levels for Uber and gig courier services like Uber Eats. Taking a relatively short Uber ride in downtown Seattle costs more than a long airport Uber ride in a major city in Texas.

You see we need to carbon tax those pesky uber drivers so they cant work and put 10 cars on the road instead of their one! Then we can tell everyone how amazing we are that we reduced the carbon emissions by those ride sharers!!

If you are an adult working at a fast food restaurant and not in management... you have failed.

No it’s not. The govt has set an artificial floor on these discussions. There are certainly situations where employees and employers would agree to do the job for under $20/hr

Huh? Isn’t subway one of the biggest fast food chains? Are you suggesting In N Out is larger and more successful than subway?

In n outs are super super profitable. I get the impression that many subway franchises barely scape by

I don't share this view, but I get what you mean by it. I don't eat fast food much, but there are several restaurants near my office with tons of apartment buildings nearby. I see a lot of middle and later aged adults walking to work wearing a Hardee's or some other fast food shirt.
There are many single parents working in these places because it's their best option. At least they are working. I always show respect to them when we interact.

Is it reasonable to say out of these 10k jobs lost a good many of these people are on unemployment. Who pays for unemployment, John Q Public. Was this really thought through?

In n out does not franchise. They are a wildly successful family owned business with a rabid fan base. They can withstand a shitload of negative economic conditions.

Subway is heavily, if not purely, franchised. The franchisees are the ones getting totally fricked and they cannot withstand something like this.

Every time government officials attempt to correct what they perceive to be the evils of capitalism, it blows up in their faces. I guess they could just pay folks more than the minimum wage to attempt to force small businesses to raise hourly wages, but we saw how that worked out during their failed policies during the COVID response.

The guillotine is still a very portable and effective machine. Stands the test of time. When are the people going to make governments afraid of them again?

Keep licking them boots. Supporting lower wages is the dumbest thing an American worker can do in the 21st century.
