Either you are really dumb (my money is on that one) or are being purposely obtuse.

People aren't working those jobs because they get tired of performing brain surgeries or solving complex math problems like Good Will Hunting. They have no other options.

How do you recommend those jobs get replaced once they are gone? Your party keeps importing illegals to take the labor jobs so those are gone too? Just more people on welfare. As if welfare hasn't done enough to raise crime and destroy cities.

So you think unskilled fast food jobs should pay enough to provide all of that?

Besides the lost jobs, what about the hours for the remaining workers that was reported in the article and other news outlets. How does that impact people’s ability to provide for their lives?

Sucks for the 2% that got laid off. Guess they'll have to go work at dollar general or somewhere and make less than the fast food workers.

If you are in the bottom 2% of fast food workers I don't want you handling anyone's food anyway, go work a cash register.

I don't have a party so you are barking up the wrong tree but I will address this

quote:

Just more people on welfare

They were already on welfare. Fast food WORKERS and Walmart employees make up a huge percentage of welfare recipients.

So if the 98% that got a raise get less welfare and the 2% that got laid off get more what is the overall difference in welfare money?

They can't. All of the jobs are being taken over by illegals thanks to you and your kind

Really? My kind lose every election and don't get to pass any laws.

Glad you revealed that the entire point of this post was political though. Maybe you should've posted on the political board.

That 98% will only go lower as more locations invest in automation. Hours will be cut too so they will earn about the same or less overall. Math is hard for you low-IQ/wage types.

Have we reached the point where you pretend to be a free-thinking independent even though everyone on here knows that you side 99% of the time with the left?

And they will not meet the minimum hours to qualify for benefits.

Its amazing how short-sighted some people are.

I side against the government, which in this case is corporations which have lobbied our government to keep wages down for decades.

Our government is owned by the corporations. If they don't want wage increases im for them.

LOL that you can't see how contradictory that statement is.

You side against the Government...except when you need the Government to force higher minimum wages.

If you truly sided against the Government, you wouldn't be for any minimum wage requirement at all which is the very definition of a free market vs the crony capitalism you are supporting.

I never voted for a minimum wage increase. I don't even live in California.

You do realize corporations have lobbied for welfare to artificially drive down wages right?

Wages would be higher if corporations had never lobbied for this corporate welfare system in the first place where McDonald's pays an employee $7 and the state pays them $7 so that combined they can make ends meet.

It isn't a one sided equation where the government is ONLY raising minimum wage. They are on the other side of it as well by subsidizing lower wages

As the other 3 responses said it’s because of Panera. It’s literally been dubbed by the MSM “the Panera cutout”.

Weird how the hike in minimum wage is supposedly related to the hike in the cost of fast food, but the prices keep rising and the jobs keep disappearing.

It's completely baffling, isn't it?
Hike minimum wage.

Customer costs increase.
Jobs decrease.

Who could have seen it coming?

You say unskilled. Could you do that job? At what wage would you do that job? Let’s say fry guy at McDonald’s or sandwich assembler at Burger King? Or the drive thru register at Taco Bell?

Do you believe that all fast food workers, no matter their position in the location should willingly work for less wages? What do you believe is an acceptable wage for them? For other full time employment in general?
