35000 camper is equal to 233 nights in a hotel at 150 dollars a night.
So
No

I have never seen a camper with an odd number of tires. Why do they call it a 5th wheel

I don't think you quite understand

We invested in a nice camper last summer. I may sell it in the fall and use the profits for a 5th wheel and duelly to pull it.

Have a 5th wheel and love it. Better to pull than tongue hitch for sure.

RVs are awesome and I'd love one. But not for going "camping" at Cajun Palms a few weekends a year. There are plenty of public lands and forests to go explore.

I just spent two weeks in a Class C RV out west.
I definitely like the idea of a big 5th wheel I could pull with a dually.
I like being able to drop the camper at a site somewhere and have the mobility of the truck.

Unless you use it a lot I think you will come out ahead renting one when you want to use it. If you are retired and using it 2-3 trips a month, sure buy one. If not rent a nice newish RV and get another nice newish RV every time you want to rent one without the maintenance and depreciation cost.

Any RV is at all-time high right now. The wife and I were shopping for a Class A bus for a month or so and decided to wait it out. No dealers have inventory and stuff is selling for above the sticker price or at very least full price. Camping World is even running ads offering to buy peoples used campers just so they can flip them.
People are scared to fly and stay in hotels so they are apparently buying RVs with their canceled Summer vacay money and COVID / Trump bucks. That was on top of the Summer sales season has made camper sales insane.

RVing is seeing a huge increase in participants right now. It’s really a great way to travel and not be totally out of you element. As a guy who used to spend 200 plus nights a year in hotels (mostly 5 stars) an RV is 10x better than a hotel.
So yeah I’m my opinion a good RV is Worth it.

Campers, RV's, boats, and More than basic Autos are never "worth it" if you are just looking at the financials of it.
But
We live on this earth once and if it's something you enjoy doing and have the extra money, then do it! It is a great way to unwind and enjoy family vacations together.

I do not fly and my camper is much better than any hotel. We go camping at least once a month to get away from the computer and weekend work. Since Covid hit I use mine as an office for quiet away from the kids and it served as my home after my house was flooded during repairs. It’s not an investment, it is just a great tool that provides me with flexibility I would not have without it. Plan to retire and pull my 5th wheel to all the national parks in the us and Canada. Party on dudes!

You get to keep the hotel room and sell it at some point?
Not white knighting for camper owners because I don’t even have one but this logic is pretty dumb.
Also, getting away to campgrounds and national parks isn’t quite the same as staying at a hotel. We just recently went to Yosemite National Park and saw tons of people with campers. Looks like a cool thing to do to be able to stay in the park.

When staying in a Hotel Room, you can't walk outside your front door and pee on a bush.
