-I can see the shift to Tele-Medicine ramp up now in a post-COVID 19 world. It keeps overhead low and allows you to see more patients (time, resolves transportation issues). Whether or not it results in better care is another debate.

-I'd love for all of these grocery stores to keep the aggressive effort in sanitizing their stores.

-Gas prices will shoot back up once everything gets back to normal; or will the Saudi-Russia price war continue?

-What about airline flight prices? Hotels?

-Meetings via Zoom

-Will schools push for virtual/online classes now to keep their overhead down as well?

I'm wondering how many of these changes will become permanent.

Shutting down America will become a lot more commonplace.

Covid-19 will be used as some sort of baseline as to why we should lockdown.

I don’t see that happening because most places aren’t even doing remote learning for various reasons. I can’t imagine everyone working from home with their kids 24/7.

I like this alcohol delivery idea. Especially with meals, let’s keep that going.

I think we'll see more companies allowing WFH at least 2-3 days/week. This can reduce the need for an office or desk for every employee and employees can have shared spaces, large conference rooms.

Travel-heavy jobs (consulting) will be more remote. Working from home will be more common where possible. Airlines will have to gracefully scale back service. Businesses that work with delivery services like Uber Eats, and Door Dash will be more common. More people will use services like Instacart to avoid stores they do not like anyways.

this. it's gonna be hard to convince all the students in the country that they have to drive to campus to do the same shite they were doing at home on their laptop/tablet

I honestly believe all of these mayors and governors across the country have been secretly enjoying their powers to control their citizens.
I expect much more of this due to hurricanes, or even small scale things like an Amber alert.

Yes publicly funded schools really give a shite about overhead.

Not if we see the type of economic damage I’m afraid we’re going to see. You write this like there will be no downside to it. I hope you’re right.

A u-shaped recovery as consumer confidence has to be rebuilt. People will be slow to get on an airplane or sleep in a strange bed without believing the environments are safe and clean. It may take a while to convince customers. I’d look for good rates and cheap fares for the next few months.

This will take years, but it's time to move away from the physical campuses costing millions of dollars to build and maintain. Think of the tax savings for your kids.

Companies will see the effectiveness and cost savings: I think companies will shrink their real estate footprint and allow more employees to work from home.
They will reduce the corporate travel and the costs in favor of tele conferences
The fist or elbow bump might become the new social greeting
Colleges might offer a less expensive online only track and reduce the gaudy campus Facilities arms race (there’s still a social aspect to campus life that many kids need)

Work from home becomes more common

The same people who are currently too afraid to leave their house without gloves and a mask will end up changing their shopping habits to buying everything online, accelerating the demise of brick and mortar retail stores

Commercial real estate suffers bigly because of all the businesses that didn’t survive the shutdown, other businesses not needing as much office space because of shift to allow more employees to work remotely from home, and brick and mortar retail suffering in the long term
