No, they are pulling out of Louisiana all together. They had plans for the Millerville and Lafayette one but could not get the LA tax abatements they had originally agreed to.
The reason people are pissed (and should be) with LA, is that a Buc-ees creates over 200 well paying jobs with a store opening. Base employees make $12/hr and there are multiple management positions that pay 6 figures.
I think they will be opening multiple spots in Florida instead now.

Because it's a signal to others how difficult it is to navigate development in Louisiana. Take it from some that have been trying to do work there and have also been burned and will not return to Louisiana.

I blame buc-ees. LA was never going to give any incentives in the first place. They signed a purchase agreement and backed out when they saw the flooding in BR and tried to put blame on LA. The development did not flood. Buc-ees sounds like a terrible company and because of their actions I will never stop at one of their stores.

Exactly. People don't realize what it means when big companies that do over 100k / day in sales refuse to come to our state means for future economics. Meanwhile, the jobs will go to Texas and Florida as well as travelers money.

Right, because when someone is driving through Baton Rouge and he realizes there isn't a Bucees, he will then teleport his car to a Bucees in Florida instead of using any other gas station in Baton Rouge.

Gas is a very small part of their profits. they don't even allow truckers to fill up at their locations. Sure, people will stop for gas in LA, but they spend money at Bucees on plenty of other crap when they get into neighboring states.

The flood had no effect if money is to be made. That's what insurance is for. I'm sure there was pressure from smaller convenient stores on local politicians that trickled up.

The Lafayette project was killed when they were unable to purchase part of a tract of land that had a park (Brown Memorial Park) on it. Once that project was killed it most likely led them to back out of the Millerville site as well.

Show me the proof that local politicians were even involved with Buc-ees backing out. It passed the metro council and planning commission.

I stopped at Buc-ee's in Texas and had their chopped beef sandwich. It was good, but any capable home cook could make better
