re: Costa Rica or Belize with kids? - jsquardjj
Def Costa Rica. So much to do for the kids. Belize is great - but more of a relax, fish, drink, dive, relax, drink kind of place. ...

Houston Restaurant Rec kind of near IAH - jsquardjj
Have a 5 hour layover in IAH in a few weeks so going out to dinner with a friend. Any good recs that are within a 30 minute drive? Not too deep into downtown but maybe on the north side of downtown. He originally recommended 1/5Th, but it looks too far and would be cutting it close. Flight gets i...

re: Thoughts on Norwegian Airlines? - jsquardjj
The planes and staff are very nice, but everything (food, water and some video content) is extra. Just grab some snacks at the airport before you board. Both experiences I had with them were great. Excellent value considering the cost of the flights. ...

re: Ho Chi Minh? - jsquardjj
I have a 8hr layover there in a few weeks. It looks like there is bus 109 that goes to the city center for $1, so we are going to take that and kind of follow the path that the hop on hop off bus takes, but just by walking on our own. Ben Thanh market, the river front, pedestrian walking stree...

re: Talk to me about Yosemite for a man trip. - jsquardjj
Driving in and out of Yosemite daily would be a pain in the ass. I think it is about an 1.5 hours each way to the nearest decent town. I would recommend staying in the park. We went at the end of August. It wasn't too packed and the weather was great. Hanging on the Merced is an awesome way to spend...

Lenox stop near perimeter mall. Embassy Suites for $120/night. I almost stayed in Buckhead, but I noticed that parking was very expensive at the hotels over there. ...

re: Help plan trip out west - jsquardjj
If it were me, I would skip most of the time in Colorado. Not because Co isn’t great, but because flights to Denver are so affordable that it is a lot easier to see on another trip. The rest of the listed places require a long road trip like you are taking. And yes, you are squeezing in too much...

re: Game atmosphere last night - jsquardjj
It was a weird atmosphere, I will agree. I was able to buy plaza level tickets on the 50 with club lounge access for $80 on SeatGeek. I’ve never seen them that low before. I also saw a good bit of empty seats in the dome. That being said, even a “slower” night in the dome is better than 80% of oth...

re: Where to stay in Tuscany for 2 weeks in November? - jsquardjj
If you are not set in stone on November, you may want to consider another month. November is Tuscany’s rainiest month of the year. We were there 17 days last month, and it rained 16 out of 17. It wasn’t horrible because the rain is light and on/off, but it may be more difficult with 3 kids. There wa...

re: Where to stay in Tuscany for 2 weeks in November? - jsquardjj
Normally I would say near Montepulciano, but a lot is closed there in November. I think staying in Chianti, where you are close enough to Florence is your best bet. You can get deals on Villas, but walking to restaurants/shops would be tough. Check out Pienza or San Gimignano too...

re: Rome - Florence - Siena - In February - jsquardjj
Florence: My favorite area to dine in Florence is the Oltrarno district. This is the area across Ponte Vechio, and the further you go away from the bridge, the more authentic it becomes. Closest to the bridge, is 4Leoni. They have a great bistecca but also other dishes. One of my favorites is th...

re: Egypt - jsquardjj
Yeah, it really is an incredible region that scares away so many. We looked into Egypt and had been recommended to only do 2 days in Cairo to see the big sites and spend the rest of the time on the Red Sea in Dahab for diving as well as some cool desert activities in a more authentic town. Bt...
