re: MTV THE CHALLENGE Season 40 Cast Revealed

Agree.
I think it has been a pretty good season, but they let it drag out so long and added so much filler, that it has been boring. Bad production decisions. ...
re: Trying to plan Europe trip
Posted by jsquardjj on 12/29/24 at 11:49 am
Three weeks is a good time frame for that. I would probably do it like this:
Fly into Zurich and spend a week exploring Lucerne/Grindelwald.
Train to Florence and spend a week there. Rent a car for at least one or two days to do Tuscany small villages. You could also squeeze in Lake Como in be...

Agree with the end of season 6. Battle of Bastards and then Winds of Winter might be the greatest set of back to back episodes of any series. ...

The pro Ice Cube stuff is because he was probably the smartest member of the group.
He was by far the best rapper in the group.
He wrote most of the songs.
He was the first one to realize their deal was awful.
He stayed away from Death Row and a lot of the gangster stuff after the split.
He was...
Favorite Swimmable Mountain Lake?
Posted by jsquardjj on 11/5/24 at 2:38 pm
Looking for suggestions for a Lake or River location that is not unbearably cold water but still offers dramatic scenery, good hiking and a decent town nearby. This would be for July.
We have done places like Tahoe, Placid and Glacier in the past, but the request for this year is a bit warmer wa...

re: Talk to me about Costa Rica
Posted by jsquardjj on 10/26/24 at 5:53 pm
We went last year and stayed in 3 different locations over 9 days.
First 3 were at the Westin Playa Conchal all inclusive. It was our first time doing an AI. The grounds were lovely, lots of monkeys, and a very nice beach. There is also a tour operator who works off of that beach who has some gr...
re: LSU will need a WR1 in the portal this year

I really wish Oregon was not having such a great year. They have an embarrassment of riches at WR. Maybe there is a chance Moore sees that there might be a 5 star clog over there and Durham can convince him to stay closer to home. ...
re: New Orleans housing market is in trouble
Posted by jsquardjj on 10/18/24 at 6:34 am
Yes, Lakeview is considered the safest / most family friendly part of New Orleans. One of the only parts of the city that you still see kids riding their bikes, walking home from school and playing in the front yards. Still need about 500k-1mil for a decent house there though.

I would highly recommend booking the Masada sunrise day trip.
You have to wake up early and hike up Masada in the dark, but the sunrise from here was Epic. After that, you hike in Ein Gedi and then finish the day hanging out at the Dead Sea. It was an incredible day.

re: What is the worst season of a tv show that you watched in it's ENTIRETY?

Dexter. It was a really great show for 4/5 seasons, and then absolutely unwatchable at the end. Still, I had to stick it out....

re: Is walking away from a house because a Seller didn't come down 2% more in price petty?
Posted by jsquardjj on 8/24/24 at 5:28 pm
Petty if you are screwing yourself by passing on a house that you really wanted just because you felt like you "lost" a battle.
But if the 2% is overextending yourself, then it is smart to walk away, not petty. ...
re: Welp - Got My Homeowners Insurance Renewal Today. 52% Increase in Premiums.

Would anyone mind sharing their city and the precent they are paying in insurance compared to the cost of their house? We are considering a move for work and are beginning to look at options.
Currently paying 1.2% of the value of our home in yearly premiums and we have a high deductible. New Orle...

re: "A Gentleman In Moscow" series (Ewan McGregor)
Posted by jsquardjj on 8/12/24 at 8:45 pm
Lol, I'm not at all arguing for communism or trying to pretend like I know much about Russia in the 20s. I just remember this teacher going on about how Russia was more tolerant of race in the early 1900s than the late 1900s and he had a few older mixed relatives in his family because there were no ...
re: "A Gentleman In Moscow" series (Ewan McGregor)

Actually, it would have been much more likely to have an interracial couple in Russia in the 20s than it would have been in the U.S. (Probably not at that hotel, but then again, I would guess most Africans in Russia were pretty wealthy themselves). I had a Russian teacher in school who used to talk ...
re: Roth IRA and UTMA for younger kids

VOO is a good one for set it and forget it. VFIAX is the “admiral version”, but almost identical to VOO and I believe a .01 percent higher fee.
Question - do you have whole life insurance policies for your kids? I just started researching those and like that they have the ability to borrow again...
re: Winter Vacation Destinations

I would recommend Steamboat.
1) Airport is only about 35min from town. Southwest flies there.
2) Howelsen hill is a small ski area right next to downtown that is free on Sundays. I think it has 3 green runs and a few short blues. Great way to try it out without breaking the bank. If you decide ya...
