re: Waitr...tip in app? - jsquardjj
Honestly I think apps like Uber eats will ultimately cause more price increases across the board. Some restaurants have low food cost and can handle the 30% cut, but other places have certain items that are high food cost and offer it to get clients in the door in hopes of them buying drinks and oth...

re: Post-vacation high. How long does it last? - jsquardjj
How about you relive it by writing us a nice review of your trip? Curious what your favorite city was. I have been to all but Santorini. Florence was my first city outside of the US and will always hold a special spot in my heart. The smaller towns of the Amalfi are amazing as well. ...

re: Opinions on red-eye flights, vs. staying an additional night - jsquardjj
I’m not sure why so many people hate res eyes. The airports are always less crowded at night. People are asleep on the plane. It’s easier for you to fall asleep. Not as many babies and such. Plus you save the money you would spend on a hotel. ...

re: Checking Kids Out of School for Vacation - jsquardjj
We do it usually a week and another long weekend every year. Vacations during the school year are so much better than the summer. I truly believe that kids become more well rounded people through travel. The makeup work is never that hard (oldest will only be in third grade) and we let them know...

Are you sailing through a company? If so, which company did you go with and what kind of costs are you looking at. Very interested in doing this next year with another two couples....

I have taken the non-stop flights in the past, but it is only seasonal. No airline offers the direct route in the fall from New Orleans....

What is the cheapest you have gotten flights MSY-Cancun in the past? - jsquardjj
I typically book through southwest and then watch flights to see if they get cheaper in which case I cancel and rebook (no change fees). They are currently $301 on SW for the dates I need but I am not crazy about the connections and arrival times. On the other hand, American has some good deals ...

re: Woman suing the Boston Red Sox for $9.5 million after being hit with foul ball - jsquardjj
I really hate people like this. 99% of people would find it a thrill to have a foul ball hit in their direction and now some dumb bit tried to ruin it for everyone. ...

re: How to redeem UR points for airfare and hotels? - jsquardjj
Nice point load! You just log onto chase and click your ultimate rewards and then book travel. You get 1.5 per ever point. It is usually better to transfer to airlines (especially southwest) because the airline points give you a better deal. I usually use them for car rentals and hotels though. ...

We stayed at Hotel Secreto before and loved it. FYI, its closing down for September, October and November for construction. Not sure if they are adding another floor or renovating rooms?...

re: Does pregnancy make women horny? - jsquardjj
Did for me, but only when I was pregnant with a boy. That second trimester was the horniest I have ever been in life. I pretty much counted down the hours until the work day was over and I could maul my husband. I always wondered if that is what it feels like to be a guy and think about sex all the ...

re: Isla Mujeres - security situation? - jsquardjj
Incredibly safe. Once your on the island, I would say much safer than New Orleans. Agree with not doing a resort (mia reef is the only all incl that comes to mind.) it kind of defeats the purpose of going to Isla to stay in an all inclusive imo. ...

re: One Million Hilton points, WWYD? - jsquardjj
I would go to some kind of over the water resort for a few days. And flights to Iceland are incredibly cheap. Chicago, NY, and Dc to Iceland all have $200 flights in June, rountrip. And then you can usually find spirit or southwest flights for like $150 round trip form Nola to Chicago. Just book ...

re: Isla Mujeres/Caye Caulker - jsquardjj
That is a tough choice because they are both great. If you are going to do any snorkeling, diving or fishing, Caye Caulker is MUCH cheaper and first class in all of those departments. Very laid back and hardly anyone tried to sell us anything while we were there. Slightly younger/european backpacker...

re: Caye Caulker, Belize Review - jsquardjj
There is an area called Placencia that is supposed to have a nice strip of beach, but we did not go that far south. There are at least 3 resorts on the north end of Ambergris Caye that probably have some nice beaches. Honestly, if the wife just wants to sit on nice beaches and pretty water, I wo...

re: weekend trip to Atlanta in late July - jsquardjj
College football hall of fame is near the aquarium and has cool interactive stuff for the kids too. We ate brunch at a place called Nooks that was a really cool spot and had an insane Bloody Mary. Right next to Piedmont park which is a great park. Enjoy the traffic. ...
