It is an area with a redesigned exit on Interstate 12 which is one of the most heavily traveled East/West Interstates in the nation. How the frick is it a weird place?
They don't give a shite about the local people, the Golden Corral, RV Shop or Honda Dealership. All they care about is room, exit and car count.
Man some people here just aren't bright.

Exit wise it is a great location as well as enough real estate to build. Why not Juban, Range, O Neil etc? Because the Millerville real estate was available and is a prime location.
Racetrac or someone similar will take advantage. Gladney sold 8 acres yesterday to Richards Honda to double what they bought earlier for over $2 million. He will find a replacement for this.

Well it is not a truck stop and they don't allow trucks. And also it is on I-12 regardless if prime city or not. It is new available real estate which on any interstate is desirable real estate. That is why the politicians over the early years owned most parcels at "future" interstate interchanges-when they were woods, agricultural lands and before anyone knew what the hell was going to run through them.

I always thought that Slidell would be a decent place for one with 12,10 and 59 coming together. Also i think one just east of Mobile would do well.

You would think Baton Rouge just lost the bid for the olympics the way some people in this thread are reacting. It's a gas station wgaf, I'm sure something will be built in its place. How will the state's economy ever recover from not having a Bucees??????

Expect to see a Buc-ees in Lafayette at the Louisiana Ave exit on I-10. At least that's the word I hear. Property deal done recently, but not officially announced.

Lafayette makes sense based on the early success model of putting locations half way between major driving destinations. Lafayette falls roughly between Houston and new Orleans
That being said, they can buy less expensive property away from Lafayette and still do well.
Also, if they do Lafayette, it will be before 90. They know about that cut through to new orleans that many use to bypass baton rouge
