I wish they could get Boston Market to set up shop over there.

Yep, just a truck stop. Just a regular ole gas station. I'm sure it wouldn't have impacted the area at all.

This is all pretty funny. I would imagine a lot of people thought it was more than a truck stop when it was a "done deal".

They could easily find another location

Millerville is a weird location for something like that IMO.

Would someone elaborate on what makes a truck stop and a gas station a destination? I'm genuinely curious why you would pass up one stop to go to another.

We don't have a Bucees, Wama, or QT here at all, so I'm curious.

I think it will be just an entire storage place.

The one on Old Hammond/Millerville? I think I read that they wanted to redevelop the whole thing for retail.

I don't understand what is the damn fanfare with this place. It's just a big arse gas station.

With the cleanest restrooms you'll find outside your home....(Maybe cleaner). It is also a great change of pace for kids on a road trip.

They are extremely well organized, not very expensive, have a huge selection of items that a normal convenience store would not have. But, probably the biggest thing (and I hear this from ever female I know around here) is they have ridiculously clean bathrooms and maintain them like nobody else. If you're in a car with a woman she will definitely rather wait for a Buc-ee's if she can.

Either Zaxby's or Golden Corral. There's another restaurant going there but but I'm not sure what it is. I imagine a competitor to Chili's.....so Applebee's or something similar. I think a Japanese car dealership is also going in there.

It's not a particularly high end development, but it is still a weird place for a massive gas station. It's not a real fit with the retailers there and it's on the upper left quadrant of the interchange. Usually the fuel stations prefer the upper right or lower left because of traffic patters and visibility.

I've never been to those last two either so I can't speak to them. But, this from the article gives you an idea of why it isn't just another gas station.

Like its other stores in Texas, the local Buc-ee’s would have been larger than any other rest stop in the area, with 90 fueling pumps and more than 60,000 square feet of retail space.

All of this and then some. Crazy clean restrooms. Lots of options for food. The worst part for Louisiana is they'll miss out on Buc-ee's minimum pay to their employees of $12.00 an hour.

Everything you need to know about what La. lost.

Car dealers, office buildings, local/regional shopping, and restaurants make sense in that development.

100+ gas pumps seems more challenging. By the time you'd have seen it from the westbound side of the freeway, you would have already past the exit.

Love those. The ones around PHX Metro area all seem to employ mostly young, friendly college-aged kids(some of them even really cute college-aged women). You walk into a QT and at least 2 employees will give you a friendly hello and welcome you to their store. Best convenience store customer service I've experienced in AZ.
