Nola residents voted down a proposal in 2016 that would have added an additional 400 officers

This is exaggerated. While not equal, "horrific" is not accurate.

That's too bad. I've always wanted to visit NO, and regardless of crime if my Dawgs make it to the Sugar Bowl again I'm gonna come visit.
This crime needs to be addressed though in a city that enjoys tourist dollars.

Has Jarvis DeBerry weighed in on this?
I saw some comments on NOLA calling him out..We will see if he avoids this or comes out blasting BS!

NOLA residents also vote for property tax increases that they'll never have to pay. It's what happens when you have a majority full of takers.

NOLA has ONE JOB... and that is to keep the Quarter and other tourist areas safe for out-of-town visitors.
The trash needs to be taken out with the swiftness.

Unless your 35 year old granddaughter is typing this shite for you, you have no idea what you are talking about. When talking about the 1930's? You are talking the end of sharecropping to the beginnings of Jim Crow rolled up with the Great Depression. I bet it was pretty fricking bad.

Apparently the guy is friends with James Woods.

Woods will almost certainly be ragging on Landrieu soon enough.

Correct. But it's going to take some names well-known outside of the state to force action. Apparently killing (mostly) local celebrities doesn't move the needle.

The schools are in the best shape they've been in probably 30 years, at least. The problem is, these kids go home, like to you said, to their crappy situations.
Will the 7 hours a day they get of support be enough to keep them on the right path? If it is, maybe as these kids become parents, we can turn the tide.
if we truly want to see a change we need to fund
- after school programs
- planned parenthood
- mental health services
- public schools
and we need to make damn sure that the funding is secured for at least an entire generation.
i think we forget that black people were actually oppressed by law less than 2 generations ago.

I dunno man, being told you can't go to certain places to eat, or you have to get food out the back door, being told to go to the back of the bus, being told you can't use a certain bathroom... I mean, I think that's pretty horrific.

All of these things have an upfront cost, but will save tons of money in later years, not to mention, provide for a better country.
The problem is, the people making spending decisions today will not get to enjoy those later benefits. It's all about what can you do for me today.

Let's not label the attackers suspects, they should be called community members.

I think it's been a net positive for African Americans. What happened was that those with the ability moved into the mainstream that was once denied them. Those doctors, lawyers, business owners and other professionals once provided stability for the black community. Those folks are now living on the Northshore, Metairie, the suburbs of Detroit, etc, like their white peers. What's left in the inner cities are people who can't make that step up for whatever reason. A young kid in that environment doesn't see a successful insurance agent or furniture store owner and think he could aspire to that. At best he sees a rapper or athlete as a role model. At worst he sees a criminal.
Also, those that are left behind accuse the successful doctor, lawyer, etc who left the hood as "acting white".
People who actually do better for themselves and their families are attacked as sell-outs.

That's all some pretty bad stuff and all, but there was at least a family unit back then and they loved and cared for their kids.
These days in that bottom 10% of the scum population they are basically living like wild animals.
