The NOPD largely has its head up its arse on high-profile cases too because it's so insanely undermanned.
I'm certainly not here to defend the NOPD. They haven't had an effective leader since Pennington.
But the police can only go with the information they get. When the associates and neighbors of criminals refuse to talk to the police, it's pretty damn hard to solve a crime.

Yeah, AbitaFan08, good point about that other "high profile" cold case that has gone nowhere, despite the links to Tulane and outside/monied people and the footage of him buying water in the gas station minutes before his death.
Ex-NOPD chief Serpas was a crook, but he at least was educated. The guy in there now is simply a yes man. If Bitch Landrieu had ever been serious about fixing crime, he would have conducted a nationwide search for a new police chief. But that's not in his game plan or his self-serving interests. Now apparently the inspector-general for the city has a target on his back.

Most of the crime these days can be traced to the degradation of the black family, along with the poor quality of inner city education. Those two are related in a lot of ways.
I agree with the degradation of the black family; however, in New Orleans there are some really good schools in bad areas. My wife has worked at one in Gretna and in the East. Both schools have great teachers who give a shite and the schools are well funded, but the teachers only influence the kids 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, when school is in session. The rest of that time they are at home in whatever terrible situation they were born into.

Regarding the inspector-general: LINK
Inspector General Ed Quatrevaux, the city official in charge of rooting out waste and self-dealing in local government, is worried there’s an effort underway to get him fired, and he made the case Thursday that such a move would damage his office as well as attempts to clean up corruption in New Orleans.
The city’s Ethics Review Board, which has the power to hire and fire the inspector general, could vote Monday on whether to start looking for a potential replacement for Quatrevaux.

Those crime numbers I'm sure are bullshite, wife was with some co-workers after a parade walking back to their parking garage downtown when they happened upon a shooting. Not a peep was ever said about this shooting in the media, print, statistics.

Thanks, I hadn't heard about this. No surprises, all dissent must be quieted.

Those shooting numbers are based on people who are hit by a bullet, 911 is called, and the victims go to a New Orleans hospital.
Actual gunfire where people are hit and its not reported to 911 or where shots don't hit anyone aren't in this classification.

The cycle won't get broken, it's in one party's interest to keep themselves in power and their true believers are worse than the true believers on the conservative side.

And mitch the bitch just got "elected" as president of the us mayors
Mr mitch the bitch, mayor of a third world country. Murder capital. Illiterate capital. Crime capital. And all around failure of a city.
it's quite a joke.

Update the two victims were tourists from Boston, Mass who were on their way back to their hotel at the Westin.
Harrison and Gernon said police plan to charge the suspects, when arrested, with second-degree robbery, which carries a penalty of up to 40 years in prison.

it's not shocking, this shite happens weekly around the country.
It happens in the same type of cities, same type of government (democrat run), and by the same people.

Congratulations @MayorLandrieu, the 75th President of the United States Conference of Mayors!
Yep. The absolute failure of a mayor.
Of course we all know why (dem raysis statues) as If they used real criteria, such as having a low crime rate, low illiteracy, low poverty, wonderful infrastructure etc, he would be laughed out of the running.
