yes, thats an issue. also, many people just do not vote on the matters which are important; less than 10% of the city voted last go around

Couldn't agree with this more. Reduce the welfare glut and redirect that money to these beneficial programs. This would help all races across the board.

All over the national news now with all of the Boston news stations covering this attack and it's made Drudge.

cmon man, i dont think weak sentences are the major drivers of the repeated issues here
with that said, im sure it happens so your evidence is valid.
and i also agree that its harder to get convictions on a murder charge (for example) but we typically do give out hard sentences to our criminals (when they are apprehended)

Meanwhile Mitch's twitter is blowing up every 10 seconds in order to bury the awesome comments to him from earlier in the day.

dunno man, being told you can't go to certain places to eat, or you have to get food out the back door, being told to go to the back of the bus, being told you can't use a certain bathroom... I mean, I think that's pretty horrific.
Was talking with an old black man at a funeral several years ago and he was telling me all about it. He laughed about it and said that the "white boys got to see the game for free too, they just paid the $4 not to have to sit with us, but our food was better anyway."

I wish tLSU was here to chime in. If you look at the statistics you will see that Nola has a very high conviction rate for Agg Assault instead of Att Murder.
This is nothing new.
Eta: I mean how else could you explain these 25 year olds you see on the news who were murdered or arrested for murder who already gave extensive records for violent offenses, have already done their time, and have gotten out. 9 times out of 10 they were convicted of freaking shooting someone

It amazes me that Guiliani was able to clean the shithole that NYC was, but we can't find politicians to take control of a city as small as NOLA.

For the life of me, I have no idea why people still come to this city and spend money.

NYC is a city full of new comers (Immigrants & transplants). These new comers don't vote for a system that has continually failed in the past.

Lived in New Orleans. Had many a great time in New Orleans. If I was told I could never go back, I wouldn't bat an eye.

Another example, if you were to go sit up there for drug court or across the street at the 8th floor of Tulane tower, half the people in drug court are people that were busted selling drugs, but have had their charges dropped or reduced to basic possession and offered drug court, something that is there to help addicts. A drug dealer that doesn't use will breeze through something like drug court and just give them more access to more customers
and I promise you this is happening on a daily basis up there at Tulane and broad

If its national news its gonna hurt tourism. Mitch is out of statues so he's gotta do something else about this.

He's too busy writing his acceptance speech on being named president of the mayors.
