Hangover finally subsided, and can see straight:

Perfect crowd, seemed to be almost exclusively locals all around me.

I was at Carrollton and Bienville, got there at 12. Easy in, traffic getting out not that bad.

Usually they close Carrollton going away from I10 around 2, this year frickers didn't close it until 5-530. fricking cars zooming by people tailgating, surprised nobody got hurt.

Talked to a State Trooper motorbike cop, said town hill didn't want to spend the Overtime. Also told me, mayor told State Police head that "they ain't pulling their wait, state needs to step up" ..in response, State police sent 100 troopers instead of the 130 they requested. Ha!

Roving gangs of Young kids on motor-bikers kept coming coming thru the closed road showing off, 1300cc speed bikes etc. doing donuts and burnouts. Hope they get them under control.

Once sun went down, lots of Freaks came out...dudes wearing dresses riding BMX bikes with face tats etc.

There was a Long pause - maybe 30 minutes around 7...turns out there was a shooting 3 blocks over....3 people died. Was on the news, but we never heard any shots.

Also heard somebody may have got run over and hurt, not killed.

Was leaving and used the Roads behind Jesuit...felt like I was in Haiti.

Never felt unsafe, lots of good people out, black white etc. pray one day that count destroya catches the clap and dies, and the city can turn a corner and get crime under control.

Bonus- say a guy with a TD hat...said wassup but didn't get his user name. Hope you had a good time bro!

Nola is a shite hole… what’s new? I can’t imagine going to a parade again until I have kids.

We had a great time downtown Thursday night and again last night in mid-city for Endymion. Ran into lots of people we knew and everyone around us were friendly and just looking to have fun with their families.

Uptown was nice the other night as well. My only complaint is still that they cut off the best and most family friendly part of Thoth's route.

After reading this board with all the non-stop bad news(which is true of course) about Nola, I had pretty much decided we were going out of town for Mardi Gras. I'm glad we stayed.

Jesus why does everyone have to come here and post about their parade experience. It’s the new covid thread.

Yet another story of a poster having fun in NO and not getting shot or carjacked.

The number of posters who this applies to FAR exceeds the number who get shot or carjacked.

Area around Jesuit is more Honduras than Haiti. Go towards Broad St and it starts to look like Haiti.

Kind of been that way for about 15 years now. We used to have a friend with a house there so that was our spot.

Ended up on Canal last night a quarter mile east of Carrolton. Good crowd. Only issue was some woman who wanted to discuss her problem with me that we were set up on her property. I kindly explained to her that the area between the sidewalk and street wasn't really going to work out if she wanted to try and keep chasing everyone off and that the street would get full in front anyway.

I eventually made friends with her and came back with a six pack of beer for her after a beer run and the rest of the day we were great friends.
