They need help to pay the remnants of a 20 year note on less than $300K?

Property taxes on $1.5m might sting a bit (I don’t know how Bozeman does their system or frequency of reassessments)

That's crazy money for a place that's so cold.
What's next, Wyoming?

I couldn't believe the prices in Charleston, SC when we visited there last month.
Crazy money.

you have to deal with -40 degree winters.

-40 is atypical for Bozeman. You gotta go to Fairbanks if you want to see temps that low regularly.

What field? I know a few people in academia. Not really big money especially considering how many years it takes to get there. And those tenure track positions are hard to come by.

Engineering. He said he wanted a last place to teach and then retire in the same place and just maybe teach now and then but spend most of his time outdoors, but it seems like that won't work out. Really good guy. Maybe he can drive in from farther away.

I have a cousin who lives there. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'd move there in a heartbeat.

I don’t give a frick what the scenery looks like.

That’s painfully stupid to spend a million dollars on a small arse house just to be in Bozeman, Montana

Was fishing the Madison River last summer and the Wildlife and Fisheries Agent stopped us at the boat landing to check limits and license.

He grew up in Oak Hills and graduated from Baton Rouge High in 1992. Nice guy-we knew a lot of the same people. He loves it.

My sleepy little area has been overrun by blue state refugees. I'm sick of seeing the Vermont and New York plates here in NW Montana. Bozeman is at a whole other level though.

Niece and her husband married and left east Tn for Mt years ago starting out east of Red Lodge in a house that looked like it belonged in the bottoms. Rehabed it over the years and sold for a profit to move to Helena.
Husband graduated for the aviation school and took a job in Missoula.
Helena home was a 1970’s 2/3 ranch $400,000, Missoula house is probably twice that and Helena house hasn’t sold.
They have some Hippie tendency’s like most who move out to Mt.
Fishing guide and his wife moved to Big Sky for her job, they like your buddy initially declined due to housing costs. The employer set them up in a cabin on the dude ranch to get his wife. He’s now the handyman and general gopher, also a bit of a hippie.
Forgot to add that Missoula’s city flag is a rainbow flag

Too dusty and dessloate for me, once you get out of the city. I prefer trees and shade.

Not many homes for sale in Bozeman under a million. Plenty of 3 bedroom condos for rent under $2000 a month. Town is way over built with apartment complexes.

Everything is expensive, but every growing town in the west is expensive.

Never bored, always something to do, don't have keys to my house, very safe, great schools, lots of friends, plenty of dining and easy to make friends.

Love Louisiana, but peace of mind is extremely important.
