What would I know I just live here. If you think anything under 45 is cold then let’s make it 4 months. Sun and 50% humidity makes the winter awesome. Yes there are some days you just do go outside but you take that to get actual spring summer and fall. By summer I mean 80’s and 20% humidity.

Surprised no one has mentioned fire season yet.

Exactly, last time I was the the majority of the people house hunting we spoke to were buying summer homes.

This included several couples from Cali under 30 who recently sold their Cali home.

As stated by others several times already -40 isn’t that common. Last year coldest was -15 two days. We had continuous snow on the ground from around Xmas till late March and higher up in the mountains until late May. Like anything you adapt to it. We’re outside running around with dog all year except those few days it’s below zero. The price you pay to no sweat the minute you walk outside

What kind of investments do you have? Any recreational or farm land? Or anything off-grid?

Blame Taylor Sheridan

I think Taylor is just reacting to what has already been happening. Property in Montana had been on the rise long before Yellowstone came out.
Most of the wealthy people I know that have been buying in Montana for a decade plus are coming from Florida and Texas. They are sick of ridiculously hot summers and hurricanes. They’re all second and third home people but they are spending more and more time up there than down south.

60 degrees in Louisiana feels like 20 degrees and in the Rockies 30 degrees feels like 65 in Louisiana. You’ll have to experience it for yourself to understand. I pretty much wear the same clothes in Florida and Colorado in January.

I have experienced the winter and summer climate in nearly all of the continental United States. I am only missing the Northeastern corner.

Bozeman, SLC, Boise, etc. Places they moved. Places where housing markets priced the locals out.

I bought a house in Utah near Deer Valley about 12 years ago. My neighbor there, who keeps up with real estate prices, recently told me I could get four times what I paid for it.
