Yup. I spent a lot of time going through the ER due to cancer and my chronically suppressed immune system and I can't tell you how many people I saw that were there for urgent care type matters. I know this because when you are in line to check in you can hear why they are there.

I wonder why that is. I also wonder how this relates to insurance rates.

Can’t get paid if you don’t have “documented” injuries bro.

A car accident is like hitting the black lottery.

Gotsta get that insurance moneys.
I know a woman who’s daughter accidentally backed into a parked car at a gas station parking lot. No one was in the car, so she waited a couple of minutes until the owner came out. It was a black dude from Texas. His car had a little damage, so they called the police. Police said it was private property and to exchange insurance info and let them sort it out. Took pics, exchanged insurance info and left. Couple months go by, and they double her insurance premiums. She calls to find out why, and they tell her they paid $9,000 to the guy for damages to his car and injuries to him. He wasn’t even in the fricking car and claimed injuries! And the fricking insurance company did zero investigation.

White people have the luxury of seeing how they feel and going to their PCP if they have lingering issues.

Black people don't have that. They are often reliant on emergency care due to healthcare injustice in this country. They also face a justice system that doesn't provide them the benefit of the doubt when they're the victims of negligence, particularly when their injuries are the fault of white drivers. This only furthers the need for them to seek immediate medical care and obtain documentation of their injuries. Factor in the systemic bias in insurance claims processing (which discounts the harm experienced by black Americans in favor of antiquated white-dominated systems like medical records, etc.) - it's a recipe for injustice.
Wow!

You’ve got a bright future as a race pimp.

Worked in an ER, it’s bad when you ask a patient who there PCP is and they give you one of the staff ER physicians names. They’re not primary physicians they’re ER docs. But when you’re raised that it’s perfectly normal to go to the ER for a runny nose as a child, you will do it as an adult.

Bam. There it is. I knew there was an explanation like this out there.

It's similar to the "why are they so loud?" thing. Turns out it's a relic of slavery. Totally not their fault.

healthcare injustice in this country

Only "injustice" is that I have to pay for other people's healthcare. Maybe you could add in the fact that physicians and hospitals are compelled to accept lower rates-of-payment from this socialist "insurance."

And plaintiff attorney advertising concentrates heavily on daytime television, public transportation and low income areas. Its almost as if certain segments of society have greater motivation to file claims and pursue litigation.

Or maybe its just coincidence.

Is Medicaid insurance?

There's no reason for anyone to not have coverage today, unless they choose it.

Sad part is those commercials use to just come on during Jerry Springer and Maury Povitch, now that shite is airing during most of the news hours...
