I love watching Foods that Built America. The show on Chick-fil-A was awesome.

Anderson Cooper from CNN is related to the Vanderbilts. His mom is a Vanderbilt.

The richest families stay off these lists.

That is my observation

It's like everybody here knows a bunch of people wealthier than the Waltons

Your cousin who owns a few shrimp boats and has the grass cutting contract for the public schools in Terrebonne aren't in the big league.

Koch

There is a rural part of Alabama about a half hour south of where I live that is big into chicken farming. It's been amazing seeing all the signs change from "Tyson" to "Koch Foods" over the past 5-+0 years. They moved in and just ate Tyson's lunch.

ETA: Well, I just learned that Koch Foods is in no way affiliated with Koch Industries. Hmm.

That EKY judge was going to be a rainmaker by forcing them to testify in court in front of the surviving families. Not sure what happened to him but he was going to hold their feet to the fire.

Same thing happened after the War of Northern Aggression. All that coal land wound up as the property of a few NY and PA families that still have never owned a coal company or mined a single piece of coal. It is why KY gets screwed on the reclamation bonds.

3 -5 4 families still own the mineral rights and lease to a coal mining company. Coal mining company mines coal and posts bonds (like bail bonds, more like insurance) for reclamation but go broke after mining but before reclamation. No premiums paid off so insurance lapses and state of KY gets stuck holding the bag.
