My wife and I were just discussing Matchbox 20 earlier. "Yourself or Someone Like You" was a straight banger start to finish.

a sad song about an elderly couple with dementia who dove off into the desert together and died when their car ran out of gas. They just sat In their car and dehydrated / heat stroke to death.
Pretty sure they lived in Texas and were supposed to be going to some local activity. But the wife had a touch of dementia and the husband had just had some kind of surgery, maybe even brain surgery, can’t remember. Anyway they ended up near Hot Springs Arkansas, and it was thought they went that far because they used to vacation there.
It is a good song. I have it in my playlist. It’s the only one from the list above on my playlist.

That album was actually pretty solid but Travis Meeks was a meth head and a POS and blew up the band.

I understand. It was just a big drop off for me compared to the 70’s and 80’s… to ME it sucked…
I just made a playlist of late-80s/90s “college music,” and every song on it is better than the best on on that chart.

Every single one of them. Looks like a road trip CD I had my brother burn for me back in the day.

I really liked the Everclear and Stabbing Westward albums. Stabbing Westward always makes me think of my favorite movie soundtrack from that era, one that I still listen to, and one that is also from 1998......Bride of Chucky.
Tell me that this soundtrack doesn't kick all kinds of arse:
1.Boogie King (The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies)
2. Thunder Kiss '65 (White Zombie)
3. Blisters (Coal Chamber)
4. See You in Hell (Monster Magnet)
5. Blood Stained (Judas Priest)
6. Love You to Death (Type O Negative)
7. Human Disease (Slayer)
8. So Wrong (Stabbing Westward)
9. Son of X-51 (Powerman 5000)
10. Trumpets of Jericho (Bruce Dickinson)
11. Bled for Days (Static-X)
12. Love for Sale (Motorhead)
13. Crazy (Kidneythieves)
14. We Belong Dead (Graeme Revell)

There’s not one song on that chart that I would listen to voluntarily.

This thread is a prime example of why the OT sucks now.
This topic should technically be on the music board (where it would have went to die) but we have great discussion on here because this board actually has traffic.
Matchbox20 is awesome. I’ve seen them live a few times and they nail it.
I’m a little surprised there’s no Hootie or Third Eye Blind on this list. Seems like both of those bands were spitting out hits non-stop around 1998.
