quote:"What are you going to do...shoot me" is rumored to be the bike riders final statement before...well.... he got shot.
Not believed to be random? Sounds like the guy told them who shot him in the arm

Are bicyclists pedestrians?
No, nor do they need to be in order to make the point that bicyclists are not the only group who act like they own the road.

Sounds like (b) puts it in the pedestrian to yield ie "look both ways before crossing" which isn't done today. And yes many bicyclists are pricks. Just like like the people who purposely walk slowly across the street.
(b) does indeed make it the pedestrian’s responsibility to make sure he doesn’t step out in front of a car that is too close to stop. However it is the car who must yield to the pedestrian, assuming it has time to do so. On average, in the NOLA area, at least four in five cars fail to do that. Thus acting like they own the road.

for some reason people are still shocked when this happens in st tammany
And yet people on the southshore are never shocked when this happens.
Can your limited brain discern the difference?

3rd street is a bit better street than some of the neighboring streets in that area but overall, that area has some pretty trashy type folk coming in and out. Its my best guess the driver isn't some outstanding citizen neither.

Don’t know anything about this but the guy on the bike probably deserved it.

I’ve yet to meet a guy on a bike who carries a gun.

The Tammany Trace is literally a bike trail dip shite.

The trace crosses several busy roads that have a lot more traffic than third st.
Example towers Mandeville are Dove park road, sharp road, lonesome road.
Who yields? Bikes/joggers or the vehicles?
I say the vehicles have the right away

According to the picture of the intersection above, the people on the trail have a stop sign, so they should stop.

That’s always been an odd area, very overlooked, and I’m not sure why.

There are a few spots where the trail crosses roads and it’s very clear to yield to bikes with flashing signs telling cars so
The only stop sign at this particular intersection was on the bike path. The street there doesn't have a stop sign, so only the bikers would have had to yield to cross traffic.
quote:If there was a bike and vehicle collision at this spot, it would have been the biker at fault since he would have been the only one with the stop sign.
Without anymore details trying to put this on the biker makes no sense

Was the cyclist doing douchebag stuff?

quote:not at every one. There is at least one between Covington and Abita that the cars have stop signs and the Trace doesn’t.
Cars 100% have fight of way over the Trace intersections.

In the photo of that intersection, It looks like the trail has a STOP sign and the road has a YIELD (to bikes and pedestrians) sign. Does that give vehicles the right of way?
I've mainly done the trace from Slidell to Fontainebleau and I stop completely if there are cars approaching.
