I don’t think I’ve ever seen a lineman brag, call attention to himself, or otherwise attention whore in the least.

Linemen don’t ask for the glory of putting their lives on the line. You go out in the pouring rain or 20 degree weather and work on 22 KV lines hot. That is their job and they do it well

Most linemen don't make enough salary to buy an F-250. That's the sad part. They deserve it though.

Funny how female heavy industries are proclaiming this lately, like nurses and teachers. Yeah maybe if you did all that work without ever getting paid, you would be a hero. Also don't you think heros would rather be the Drs who are doing the actual saving of lives?

I am happy to see line workers gearing up to fix things, but let's not kid ourselves, they aren't trying to be heroes.
They get freaking PAID for this. They get time and a half or double time, and after 24 consecutive hours, they can "GO ON THE HOG," meaning every hour they work is at the overtime rate. Plus, they get other incentives thrown in, not including locals throwing them a bone with free food.

Well nurses are working, I’ve yet to see an Entergy truck that wasn’t covered in ice. I’d gladly give them the attention they so crave if they showed up.

Man, I am not going to label them all as "attention whores". Either way, they. are willing to do jobs a lot of people have no interest in doing..
But a group I will consider attention whores are volunteer firemen.
The purpose of volunteer firemen is to have people who are able to get out to areas that take the firemen to get to.. But because they have a scanner, they will show up at every accident that comes across. And they love nothing more than to put the light on their dashboard and haul arse.. Even to the areas in which the fire department & police will get to before they do.
