Yup just boarded the flight to Miami. Thanks to the OT for all the concerns and helping me be able to convince the missus it was a good decision to leave. Cheers fellas!

There may potentially be some cancellation costs that I'll eat, but generally they will credit the amount for future flights. I fly enough that I'll use them. The resort is also crediting the 5 nights that I missed. So I'll be back in the Caribbean sometime in the next year, but I'll be making sure it's before hurricane season

Woops, thought you were in Kingston not Montego Bay!

May be a bit bumpy into Miami tonight but at least you'll be in the USA

You should not have to. When you get to Miami, if you're feeling up to it, ask at the counter if they can give you your refund to get out of Jamaica given the waivers. Or call

No way in hell that plane was used from JFK-FCO. I support your knowledge CUSE but correct me if I am wrong that is a 737.

If you click on that JFK-FCO flight, it was a 777-200. You're right

They can use the same positioning flight number with different aircraft types

Man I’m glad you’re out, but my concern for your future is that your wife needed convincing to leave a 3rd world country with an inevitable catastrophic hurricane bearing down on you.

I’m sincerely not trolling, but trust the experts here over anything I’d find elsewhere on the internet

How fricked is my family that is stuck in the Caymans? My mom said they’ve been unsuccessful in trying to get flights out the past few days and that they’re obviously concerned. She said they got a list of shelters they can go to but they don’t have a vehicle so not sure how that could play out

Anything positive I can tell them?

Looks like United added a flight and my fam is gonna be able to fly home tomorrow afternoon thanks for all the info to all the baws in here, yall are the MVP’s of this site during hurricane season

New aircraft measurements from Hurricane #Beryl show a central pressure of 948-949mb, a few notches higher than the last mission several hours ago, indicating some weakening, though northern eyewall surface wind estimates remain at ~150 mph. Beryl has been battered by wind shear and weakened somewhat so far today, but not rapidly as of yet. Beryl's level of resilience over the next 12 hours will determine how bad conditions get in #Jamaica tomorrow. Residents should be prepared for a major hurricane strike.

Sat presentation looks like Beryl might be trying to pulse up again.

She’s one stubborn bastard. Rds dc if she doesn’t weaken much between where she’s at now and Jamaica will she weaken before the Yucatan?
