Also says northwestern gulf still in play. Just how much it weakens will play the big factor.

Here's GeauxOns flight tonight. Looks like an extra section American created to get people out of Jamaica. So glad he and his wife are getting on this flight!

Flightaware

ETA: The 9000 flight numbers are usually extra sections created by the airline for situations like this or if a plane goes mechanical. Take a look at the history below the flight tonight and you can see it was used for JFK-Rome on 6/19

This is completely irrelevant to the thread but I'm just curious as a naive baw who has luckily never been in the situation, how does this work with your original flights? Did you just have to eat the cancellation fees or did you have insurance?

There is a waiver up on American so any flights that Geaux wanted to get on (with seats) he would've been able to at no cost. He got very lucky American planned to get the plane out of Kingston tonight and create the extra section for this flight

I’m glad he’s able to get out. I wouldn’t want to be stuck in a third world country during or the aftermath of a monster hurricane.

Looks like some dry air may be getting pulled in, but some is also being pushed away.

Looks like Geaux's inbound flight from Miami is taking off right now. Glad the plane got out of Miami before thunderstorms potentially hit this evening, tons of storms just to the west of the airfield already

Most of those buildings are either garbage wood stick built or concrete block with metal electrical conduit and basically impervious to storms other than losing the roof.

The future of building at the coast in the US is pilings with metal roofs and concrete first floors with stick built on the second built to S FL code IMO.
