Drove from Austin to Lafayette last night. Smooth sailing until we got between LC and Jennings. Hit a bad thunderstorm at that point and wrecks shut down 10 for a hot minute. Lightning was putting on a show though.

So it shifted more east? I live in the lower Heights area.

It's been shifting east all week. The nothern wobbles and continuous trend on the northern side of guidance made Matagorda County a likely landfall location yesterday.

The farther inside or east of the loop your are the less severe any wind impacts will be. Still will be pretty blustery there.

People slowly coming to grips with it. I guess I shook people's cages too hard when they still had sleep in their eyes at 7 am and made them mad.

I’m in the loop and grocery stores were not crowded this morning. Plenty of food, water and ice. I agree that people are slowly realizing we’ll be impacted in the city.

Definitely seeing some bursts of convection. We’ll see if it can get that deeper convection wrapped all the way around the center.

So far to expectation.

Absolute ghoulish presentation yesterday with dry air and shear dominating.

Organizing today as shear decreases.

Outflow enhancement from trough allows for quick strengthening right near the coast.

I’ll head to the hood Buccee’s in a bit to fill up the vehicle and get beers. Got propane tanks, gas stove, waters and plenty of food in the big freezer, both cooked and uncooked.

Hell, might make a gumbo this evening with or tomorrow with the leftover boiled crabs from yesterday.

Yep. I drove down to TX City 5am yesterday morning to do some fishing. The freeway signs read “Hurricane in the Gulf” or something like that, but no one, myself included, seemed to care.

It was a beautiful, calm day on the coast.

Not sure I can dumb it down enough for you, but

In Houston, farther SW in the metro the more wind/rain/loss of power impacts. Farther NW, the less the wind/rain/loss of power impacts.

Folks are also just desensitized to extreme weather in this area to some extent at this point. I have friends who didn’t have power for two weeks in May and are aware but are just like “whatever,, I got through that and all the other shite we’ve had thrown at us okay”
